I got an OLED Switch the other day, and after a lot of messing about, and doing every game one by one, I finally managed to get all my games and save data transferred across from my original to the new one.

However, it didn't do it straight away, but now I'm getting the following message appear every time I turn the Switch on and click on the icon of the game I want to play (only does it the first time, not afterwards)........

"The current backup and download status of your save data is displayed here.
"For more information, go to the HOME Menu and open the Options menu for the software, then select Save Data Cloud"

That's what it says word for word.

Wish I could post a picture but my technophobia means I have no idea how to do that.

I have a launch day Switch and never, ever had this message, and I've had the OLED since Saturday and didn't have this message show until today.

I literally have NO idea what to do.

I have enough space on both my micro SD card, and the console itself.

All my games are physical. I have NSO.

From what I can tell all my save data is still there (which I guess is the main thing), but the message is both a bit worrying and quite annoying.

Can anyone, absolutely anyone help in any way with this at all?

If so, could you please explain it as if you were explaining it to a 4 year old who was born in the 1920's That would be soooooooo much appreciated.

Thank you very much

Those are clouds saves it tries to synchronise with the server but has not done yet.
You can manually transfer save date or put it in sleep mode and wait until it is synchronised. Some save files like Dragon Quest Builders are 2 Gb so that might take a while.
Just be aware of replacing save files with new blank ones.
Nintendo Switch stores save files on the system memory not the SD Card.

I really, really, genuinely appreciate your response, but I literally have no idea what any of that means or if I need to do anything. I'm so sorry čÖł

@GuruOfGreatness Just put your Switch in sleep mode for 2 days.

That makes more sense lol. I'll speak to you on Saturday lol. Does that mean I can't play on it in the meantime?

@GuruOfGreatness Hmmm. I wonder if the game is trying to sync with the Switch Online cloud for backup, but is getting stuck? I'm not sure how to troubleshoot that. Don't know if you've got a random glitch, or if there's an issue with a Nintendo cloud server?

You can try a hard reboot to see if that clears it, hold the power button down for about 10 seconds, and it will restart.

If no one else here knows that issue, and you want to try talking to nintendo support, their phone number is in a stealthy place, if you're in the UK (your profile says UK). The Nintendo UK support contact page will direct you to select your region (your profile here says UK, I think EU will be your region), after that you'll select a couple categories. That will give you what looks like an email form. At the bottom of that form is their phone number. If you don't see the phone number, go back and select "other" as a category.

@GuruOfGreatness If you realy want to play a game press the + on the game icon. That┬┤ll pop up a menu where you can scroll down to save data cloud, press A and A again on ┬┤unable to check status┬┤ there click ┬┤download save date┬┤. You are ready to resume your game while the Nintendo Switch takes care of the rest in back ground modus.

@WoomyNNYes Those games are queued. All the save data from the previous switch is a lot to synchronise.

@WoomyNNYes

Thank you. I tried the hard reset but nothing I'll leave it in rest mode like the other chap suggested and hope that sorts it. Otherwise it's a call to Nintendo

@GuruOfGreatness You can also use your old Switch. That makes things a bit more complicated.
With the old switch go to System Settings(Next to the joy con button a the bottom of the screen)>Data Management> Transfere Your Save Data> Send Save data To another console> Select the game > Send Save Data.
On your new OLED Switch go to System Settings(Next to the joy con button a the bottom of the screen)>Data Management> Transfere Your Save Data> Recieve Save Data.
Booting up the game after that shouldn┬┤t prompt the warning.
You can even repeat this process. for all your games

@CactusMan

This is exactly how I transferred ALL my games over in the first place. Took bloody ages. I never got the weird message until today though, so no idea what I'm doing wrong.

I've currently put the Switch in sleep mode and docked it as you suggested. I'm just gonna leave it there.

@CactusMan

And I was able to transfer all my games except WWE Battlegrounds lol. It won't let me transfer that

I'm not fussed if I just lose one games data. I just want that annoying message gone and all back to normal.

I┬┤ve just recreated it with Gun Man Clive, keep in mind you┬┤ll start of with a new save file. Just choose Start Software it should get rid of the warning.
