I got an OLED Switch the other day, and after a lot of messing about, and doing every game one by one, I finally managed to get all my games and save data transferred across from my original to the new one.

However, it didn't do it straight away, but now I'm getting the following message appear every time I turn the Switch on and click on the icon of the game I want to play (only does it the first time, not afterwards)........

"The current backup and download status of your save data is displayed here.
"For more information, go to the HOME Menu and open the Options menu for the software, then select Save Data Cloud"

That's what it says word for word.

Wish I could post a picture but my technophobia means I have no idea how to do that.

I have a launch day Switch and never, ever had this message, and I've had the OLED since Saturday and didn't have this message show until today.

I literally have NO idea what to do.

I have enough space on both my micro SD card, and the console itself.

All my games are physical. I have NSO.

From what I can tell all my save data is still there (which I guess is the main thing), but the message is both a bit worrying and quite annoying.

Can anyone, absolutely anyone help in any way with this at all?

If so, could you please explain it as if you were explaining it to a 4 year old who was born in the 1920's That would be soooooooo much appreciated.

Thank you very much

I really, really, genuinely appreciate your response, but I literally have no idea what any of that means or if I need to do anything. I'm so sorry 🙈

That makes more sense lol. I'll speak to you on Saturday lol. Does that mean I can't play on it in the meantime?

@GuruOfGreatness Hmmm. I wonder if the game is trying to sync with the Switch Online cloud for backup, but is getting stuck? I'm not sure how to troubleshoot that. Don't know if you've got a random glitch, or if there's an issue with a Nintendo cloud server?

You can try a hard reboot to see if that clears it, hold the power button down for about 10 seconds, and it will restart.

If no one else here knows that issue, and you want to try talking to nintendo support, their phone number is in a stealthy place, if you're in the UK (your profile says UK). The Nintendo UK support contact page will direct you to select your region (your profile here says UK, I think EU will be your region), after that you'll select a couple categories. That will give you what looks like an email form. At the bottom of that form is their phone number. If you don't see the phone number, go back and select "other" as a category.

@WoomyNNYes

Thank you. I tried the hard reset but nothing I'll leave it in rest mode like the other chap suggested and hope that sorts it. Otherwise it's a call to Nintendo

This is exactly how I transferred ALL my games over in the first place. Took bloody ages. I never got the weird message until today though, so no idea what I'm doing wrong.

I've currently put the Switch in sleep mode and docked it as you suggested. I'm just gonna leave it there.

And I was able to transfer all my games except WWE Battlegrounds lol. It won't let me transfer that

I'm not fussed if I just lose one games data. I just want that annoying message gone and all back to normal.

@GuruOfGreatness

Did you ever solve this issue please as I have just bought an OLED and am having the same problem.
It’s more than annoying.
Any help appreciated

I did yes. I'd be lying if I said I could fully remember how I did it without going to my settings, but I think I tried my luck and did something with the Primary Console or something like that and it FINALLY worked. Hope it helps.

One thing I have noticed with my OLED Switch (off topic) is that the White Joycon always seem quite loose when connected in handheld mode. I've seen a few others have this issue on YouTube, but when I put my old Neon Joycon in they're as solid as a rock and don't wobble or move at all. Anyone else on here having this issue as I'm thinking of sending it in for repair, but not really sure it warrants as faulty.

I think your plague of issue should be taken to Nintendo Support. You issues seems far bigger then NL replies can help with.

Well TBF I got my issues sorted and haven't commented since the 14th of October last year. Someone had the same issue as me and bumped the topic up. I just merely posted my response, but with a small, off the cuff query to literally anyone, to see if they had also had the same Joycon issue, if it is even really an issue as opposed to a minor annoyance.

@GuruOfGreatness Regarding the lose joycon fit, it's possible nintendo could say your joycon is within spec, unless yours is really bad. In general, some joycons fit better than others.

With the 3ds, some screen hinges were floppier than others, some were stiffer than others, and my understanding is, Nintendo says they are within spec. And won't do anything for you. I think joycon fit may fall into that type of scenario.

So, be ready for that possiblity.

Side note, I made one of my joycon pairs fit more snug by neatly putting pieces of masking tape on the flat surface of the joycon that slides into the console rail. I used cut pieces of tape so I didn't cover those L & R buttons that slide into the rail. It worked surprisingly well. And, it's totally not visible if the joycons are attached. I used masking tape, because that's not likely to leave sticker residue if you remove them.

K so I figured it out. It says "The current backup and download status of your save data is displayed here. For more information, go to the HOME Menu and open the Options menu for the software, then select Save Data Cloud"

What it should say is: go to system settings. Data management. Save data cloud. Then go to the right and highlight the software. Hit A. Back up save data.

Hope this helps

if anyone is still having this issue do the following: System settings < Data management <Save data cloud < Select the game having the save data issue < press Y to update.

Soooo this is very late but i hope this helps people in the FUTURE.

I managed to fix this problem myself and its very simple to fix but MAY NOT WORK for everyone.

1. Go to the game on your home screen that is having this issue.

2. Press the + button on the game and the OPTIONS menu will come up.

3. Scroll down and select Sava Data Cloud.

4.You should see your profile with that error message underneath select that.

5. Now from there we have 2 methods to fix this issue. You can select backup save data or Download save data. If your trying to fix this because you moved over to a new switch and are trying to carry over your save data press on DOWNLOAD. However if you were in my situation i had the game on my switch already but was getting the error. All i did was select BACKUP and it overwrites the files on Nintendo's save data cloud with the files currently on your nintendo switch. Once it finishes the error was completely gone for me

I HOPE THIS HELPS
