Topic: Phoenix Wright Trilogy

Hey, if there already is a post page for this, sorry, but I didn't find it when I searched. I just noticed in the eshop that the trilogy is coming to Switch soon, and the Japanese release will support English. I've only ever heard good things about this games. But never played them myself, so I will probably add them to my backlog.

I am kinda shocked Nintendolife hasn't talked about this. Maybe I missed the article?

IDK man, what I do know is that the original trilogy is hecking amazing (despite what people say, the second game, Justice For All, is still great) and you need to play it ASAP.

I just hope they don't mess up the Switch version of the trilogy like they did the mobile version (funny considering the rest of the games are great on mobile).

I think it's not talked about much because we've already had the trilogy released on 3DS not that long ago and this one isn't exclusive to the Switch, either. Plus visual novel games like Ace Attorney don't really have much replay value, so fans of the series aren't as hyped.

I'd definitely recommend the trilogy if you haven't played it yet. To be honest there are other visual novels that I much prefer, like Danganronpa or Zero Escape, but Ace Attorney still has interesting enough cases. The characters are really the best part about the game, they're very well written.

I'm pretty sure it was announced a few months ago and NL did an article on it then. But yeah, Ace Attorney is a fantastic series and the Switch release will be a must-buy for anyone who hasn't played it yet.

As you might be able to tell from my avatar, I absolutely adore these games! Some are definitely better than others, but I wouldn't call any of them bad at all. This is definitely a series you want to play in release order, so the trilogy is by far the best jumping off point for getting into it!

On sale now in the European 3DS eshop. Bought it earlier today actually. It'll be a while before you can get the Switch version at that price I'dathought.

@Braok How did they mess up the mobile version? That was the way I played through the Trilogy so I'm really curious.

A lot of the changes just seem like laziness to me, but they definitely ruin the impact of some pretty big moments.

Also not using Pearl Fey's theme is genuinely criminal

I don't like that the "HD" version has inferior animation and they cut some visuals. They smoothed out the pixels and slapped "HD" on it.

They should start adding the fourth game to these collections...

Anyway isn't this based off the 3DS trilogy version? Didn't that one fix some things from the mobile HD release?

If it doesn't get a physical release, I won't get this version, as I already have all of the games on DS, but for someone who hasn't played the original trilogy, I can not recommend them enough.

With one of the strongest cast of characters in any video game franchise and extremely well written stories, Ace Attorney is one of my favorite video game series of all time. I think I've played through the three first games at least three times and despite what people say, the second game isn't bad at all. Sure, the first and the third game are both stronger overall, but the second game has one of, if not THE best case of the series, that being the final case of the game: the unexpected plot twist, the grand return of a major character (including an extremely epic theme song) and the inner conflicts of Phoenix Wright makes it AMAZING!

But I'm patiently waiting for a new game in the series on the Switch.

I had the trilogy on DS, sold them for quite a lot, then bought the trilogy for a fraction of its original price on WiiWare. However, I love the series, especially the original trilogy and I would love to replay them in HD on Switch and would buy it again if its physical.

Also, I have no objections for Phoenix Wright entering the Smash court.

I have the Japan-only physical release on preorder.

I've never played a game in the series so I'm eager to try it out.

A year late to the party but after finishing the first two games of the trilogy i can only add to the shoutout of really loving these games as well as leaving a recommendation for any murder mystery fan who enjoys a grain of humor. In the middle of playing through the third game now and hoping to see it being even better than the last case of Justice for all
