Me too. Already started playing again yesterday. Was just waiting on that patch.

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

I was also waiting for the patch. Just booted the game up and, man, this game looks absolutely stunning! So far the performance holds up great and I'm already hooked!

So I beat the final boss yesterday. Here is my experience.
The performance was ok for the most part. I had 3 crashes in total and some glitches here and there. The graphics are great minus some low-res textures, which is to be expected on a Switch version. Over all I really enjoyed the game. It keeps a good balance between keeping old things from the first Ori and introducing new elements (mostly from Hollow Knight). It gives many options for different play styles, mainly through it's charm system. But in the end, I think I still prefer the first Ori. I don't like the combat system of Ori 2 so much, and the platforming and story telling was much better in the first Ori, imo. The visuals of Ori 2 are better, but the first Ori was beautiful enough for me.

What did you guys think of the game? Which Ori do you prefer?

Still haven't quite finished, will post my final verdict here once i am done. Although so far i am inclined to agree with most of your points, but lets see. Only just finished the first dungeon( if it can be called that way)

Man, you guys are fast. I have like 7-8 hours in it and I'm only at the first or second wisp (I'm at the lake boss right now).

@rallydefault
I'm used to difficult platformers/ Metroidvanias. Maybe that's why.
How do you like the game so far? How is the performance for you?

I absolutely love it! I think I'm gonna have to wait until the end to judge which game I ultimately like more, but it still has the great physics and movement that I enjoyed from the first game. The background can still be a bit too beautiful that I can't quite tell what might hurt me, and I do think I slightly prefer the combat in the first game, but overall I'm having a blast with the platforming.

I have a couple hours in since the patch and haven't had another crash or other random craziness; so far so good!

So I preordered this on amazon, and still no word on a shipment for me.

Anyone else waiting patiently for the physical release? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I just checked amazon and it said delivered by tomorrow! Yes!

Then like 30s later, I got an update that it's now arriving after xmas. Bummer, man!

My physical copy showed up yesterday. Finally have a chance to sit down with Ori2. Nope.

Day1 patch required.

Very disappointed already.

If I had spent $150 for the collector's edition, I'd honestly be mad.

After waiting months to play, I'm honestly annoyed they couldn't delay this more to get the cart working.

This game won't run without an internet connection and a huge download(I'm 30minutes in), making the cart just copy protection then? Super lame dudes.

Like refund territory lame.

@nerdface
Wow yea that's lame. They obviously made the carts before the patch, I guess, but I totally feel for you. I will say it's worth it if you stick with it, though. It's a really fun time of a game. I feel more of a desire to 100% this one than I did for the first Ori, actually.

I finished it since my last post, and I do think I like this one more than the original. They made cooler abilities and interactions this time around, and I think the different environments and characters are leaps and bounds more interesting than the first game.

For anyone in the UK, I just picked up a physical copy of this from Smyths for £14.99, it's at least £30 everywhere else. You have to go to the shop though, with Covid you use Click and Collect and then go to the store entrance, you don't even need to go inside.

Cheers for the heads up @MarioBrickLayer that’s a great price and Blind Forest is one of my favourite games on the switch so been waiting to get the sequel. That, along with Pikmin 3 for £24.99, is bargain city.

Edit: Sold out at my nearest branches. Ah shucks.

@Oswinner I preferred Will of the Wisps to Blind Forest, the focus on combat felt weird at first but It's a much better game once adjusted.

@Oswinner I missed Pikmin 3 for £24.99, that's a good price too and is available for delivery.

Fired this up yesterday as I just bought it. Already it seems like leaps and bounds better than the first entry.

@NintendoByNature
It's definitely a more cohesive and refined experience than the first. It still allows for exploration, of course, but it guides you a bit more than the first game and has some more trope kind of systems we see in a lot of games (world upgrade hub, swapping abilities on the fly, etc.)

rallydefault

NintendoByNature

@rallydefault it feels more like a zelda game than a metroidvania based on the two hours I've played, which is a Good thing

NintendoByNature

@NintendoByNature
Yea, the first is definitely heavier on the metroidvania structures. I also prefer the Zelda style. Still plenty of stuff to go back and discover, but more of a cohesive experience overall.
