Topic: No sound on my TV after update

I have a Sony Bravia TV hooked up to my switch with an HDMI cable. I have an LG soundbar connected to the TV with an digital optical cable. I had sound whenever I was playing the Switch until just the other day when the system updated to version 7.0.1

I've spent all morning trying various options - switching HDMI ports on the TV, trying the headphone trick, changing settings on the Switch/TV. Nothing has worked.

If anyone could offer some advice/help I would appreciate it.

Thanks

@desktop Try fully powering off your Switch for 5 minutes and disconnect all the leads from both the console and TV. I've seen that solution for some issues on Nintendo's own help pages. Sometimes issues occur after updates but a restart can fix them.

Good luck!

Tried that too and nothing. I also tried connecting the HDMI that came with the Switch to the TV, but still no sound. I have awesome sound when I use my Apple TV or PC (through the soundbar), but nothing from the Switch. By process of elimination I believe it's a problem with the Switch, although I have no idea what other than the last system update.

I had this particular issue with "arena of Valor but I think is athing with the game. ( I hope it) also try a different dock (having friend with switch can be usefull in this cases. )

Unplug your headphones.

Might be a dumb question, but have you confirmed the problem is the Switch and not the soundbar or the TV?

The problem isn't the TV or the soundbar, because I get sound from both the PC and Apple TV which are both plugged into the TV via HDMI cables. Sound from the Switch worked since the day I bought it, until like I said this last update.

@desktop on the switch settings, have you tried the sound settings and toggle automatic.

Yeah I've tried everything. I think the HDMI ports may be bad on my TV. Last night I could not get the Apple TV to show up - the light was on, but no menu was appearing on the screen.

Just purchased a new TV (LG 43LK57) and everything is working great. Guess it was those HDMIs on the old one.

Today is June 8th 2021 I just downloaded an update. 3 hours ago the sound worked perfectly fine. Suddenly now there's zero sound.

Use a crtvga and have the video converted through a low paying HDMI to VGA converter.

The sound was coming through a USB device called 3D Sound which is a device that takes lpcm 5.1 and converts it into headphone surround sound so I can hear it in my headphones in true surround sound.

Before the TV was set in 5.1 surround sound and it worked perfectly fine.

After the update the sound cut off completely.

And it doesn't matter whether I put it in surround stereo mono or automatic no sound comes through the USB device known as 3D Sound.

I have a CRT VGA this is one of the few ways you could listen to sound in headphones around and play the Nintendo switch on TV.

The solution was pretty simple just turn off the switch physically after the update, as opposed to just sleeping it wait a minute and then turn it back on we'll fix that issue.

It's fixed but thanks for checking up on me.
