This concept is really interesting. I wonder how far they'll go within each game. I mean, Hotline Miami fits rather well considering NMH is very bloody.
But Shovel Knight? It feels like it'd be really weird to decapitate people in that world.
Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again
Yeah, it sure would be weird if No More Heroes was in an 8-bit inspired world. They've never done that before. (Slider said, with sarcasm tags large enough to crush a city)
What's weird and crushing is how hard you have missed the point
And that point was that No More Heroes...wouldn't randomly put an 8-bit world in its game for lulz? Because if that was the point, that's literally untrue, and if that isn't the point than you didn't make one.
Maybe you mean that No More Heroes was halfway satirical with its retro aesthetic as much as anything, a nerd with a totallynotalightsaber beating up bad guys because he wants to be cool like the media he likes and also with 8-bit nostalgia worlds because he grew up with 8-bit nostalgia worlds is its kinda point, maybe. But for all you know, that could be the point. If No More Heroes uses Shovel Knight as an awkward and forced crossover to make a point about how awkward crossovers can be and how jarring this could be, that is exactly what would happen, because Suda51.
@MarcelRguez
Reading this, I want to replay the two games again, just for the cast of characters and the classic quotes... oh, and for the music... and probably for the over the top action as well, because once you're in it, the destruction-combos, the lightsaber slicing and wrestling through hordes of killers feels damn good and never repetitive.
The games have intelligent humour and excellent voice acting as well.
The point is that you have the whole thing backwards. This isn't NMH adding "an 8-bit world in its game", it's the opposite. Suda seems to be using indie games as the setting for the levels of the game. If the mention of Unreal didn't give it away in the trailer, know that it's been confirmed that these levels are fully 3D, and not 8-bit. Whatever you were picturing in your mind with the whole "NMH goes 8-bit" doesn't look likely to happen.
ah, I see.
Though I could still see them doing something like an 8-bit style, even in 3D. Like something along the lines of 3D Dot Game Heroes or something.
I've never played a No More Heroes game. I did check out some gameplay of the previous games... they seem a little dated now. But this one looks fantastic. I love the idea of going into video game worlds.
