My Nintendo switch is 5 Months old
Today when i was going to turn it on it wont turn on
and a Battery icon flashed, i think is strange because i am sure
i turned Switch off completely but i had not played on it for a week.
Then when i plug it in to AC the nintendo logo show up then battery icon flashes again
Could that be battery is under 5% and it wont let me use it on Electricity plugged in
until it has charged for 30 minuts or so?
But why would battery deplead by having ut completely turn off
Update:
After 10 minuts i was able to get it on
now it say 4% charging
I though it would turn on instantly when plugged into AC electricity
since then it get power but seem it need to be atleast 4%
seem like anything between 1-3% it wont turn on before charging a bit
the mystery now is why battery depleated by having it completely turn off
(wifi was not turned off before turning off console)
Yeah, the first thing I thought of was the battery being fully discharged.
I'd plug it in for 15-20 minutes and then check again.
If it doesn't power up, try holding down the power button for at least 10 seconds and then try to power it back on.
That should tell us a bit more.
The battery thing tends to happen to a lot of electronics this day and age. No need to panic just yet.
You're not using a 3rd party dock, btw?
Oh and it depends on the battery really.
Some can hold a charge for months on end when turned off. Like the DS or PSP, while others will drain within a week or 2-3 even though the system is fully charged.
Here's what I see going on using 3rd party devices to charge your NS rather then the OEM Dock is problematic and any problems from using it isn't Nintendo fault but the user themselves. Sounds more like the user didn't properly charge their NS console. I have no problem turning it off and leaving it in the OEM Dock to charge whether I use it or not and it power on full 100% without problem. If your system is going 5% that means it wasn't docked properly or the device can't supply the power it needs to charge up. So since no on here can see how your setup is this comes down to user not following proper charging instructions.
Mine's been doing that alot. I figured out that simply unplugging the HDMI cable from the TV and re plugging it somehow makes it start working again. I don't get it but it works for me.

@Zeldafan79 was that the OEM or 3rd party HDMI cable? Sometimes the OEM does fail but that is why they have a warranty on them to replace it if it is still in-warranty. 3rd party that is up to the user to contact that 3rd party to get it replaced or fixed.
I had that happen to me. It was so weird. I could hold down the power button and home button and it’s respective controls would show up, but the screen itself was just... black. It was so weird. I restarted it and it worked. Don’t know what that was about
