Topic: Nintendo Switch and 3Ds Support

Nintendo has a huge fan base around the 2ds and 3ds and they are trying to bring both communities together to create one larger community.
The way to do this in come out with a "switch pro" and a switch "pro light"

The switch pro would be the same side with a full screen that is touch without the black boarder around it. It would be 1080p 60 fps in hand held and a new dock would be made and sold separately to keep the cost at a good stand point.
The "Pro Dock" would have extra hardware that would then push the switch to 4k 60fps.
The next feature on the switch Pro would be 2 slots for cartridges. one slot for Nintendo switch games and one slot for 3ds games.
If you could play all your games 3ds games on a switch pro or pro light then you could end support for the 2ds and 3ds and everyone would still be happy because all there older games would be playable.

For the "Switch Pro Light" It would be 720p 60fps in handheld mode and with the switch pro dock it would upscale to 1080p 60 fps. It would also feature 2 cartridge slots one for the 3ds games and one for switch games.

This would be the best of both worlds. Nintendo could attract there younger audience with a cheaper version the "switch pro light" and still have access to there game library and on the other hand if they had a more powerful "switch pro" developers might be more willing to put AAA games on the switch.

This would truly make the switch the best console.

Personally, I would prefer a Switch Mini. A portable-only iteration of the Switch. Same chipset, but ergonomically smaller, with a control scheme that cannot be detached, minus a kickstand that exposes the micro sd card slot, and more internal storage.

I'm convinced that Nintendo really does intend to support the Switch for a decade...as a portable. If Nintendo plans to keep major third party publishers interested in their platform, they'll have to release a truly "next gen" console in close proximity to when Sony and MS release their next consoles. Because the response from third party publishers regarding the Switch has been clear.

No Madden, no Call of Duty, no Assassin's Creed, no Red Dead Redemption 2, no Anthem, no Fallout 76, etc. The Switch is an afterthought, not worth the expense of creating additional internal teams to release games day-and-date with other platforms. And it'll remain that way until Nintendo follows suit in the hardware chase. Or...they'll continue to depend on first party, indie developers, and AA publishers...just like the Vita has for the past several years.

Something like this could potentially be pretty good, but how would you be able to play 3DS games on a single portrait screen, as opposed to a dual screen setup?

Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online

They could make another scream that connects via usb port and slides over the tip like they made for the magnifings glass screan things for gameboy color

That seems needlessly complicated not to mention expensive. Shoving 3ds and switch internals into one case then requiring a separate USB screen to even play 3ds games sounds unwieldy, cumbersome and just an all around bad idea. And in no way would that be cheaper than just buying a 2/3ds and a switch separately imo.

HobbitGamer

@DrDabRx so, there would be 2 switch SKUs and 2 dock SKUs?

I'd rather see Nintendo make an entirely new handheld system with games that are compatible with the Switch.

@DrDabRx I highly doubt that such a dock would ever happen. I expect there are insurmontable hardware limitations that would make it so you can't just pick the Switch up and take it with you mid game, which has been one of their key marketing factors. If you were relying on the dock for additional power, and picked up the console while playing, it would almost certainly cause issues.

On the other hand, I have expected for a while that we will eventually get a Switch Pro and a Switch mini. The Pro will be more expensive, and more powerful, have greater storage and a stronger battery but essentially the same design. Mini will be as powerful, but will be somewhat smaller, sacrifice the removable Joy-Cons, and be more durable and designed for children. The mini will be cheaper and meant to replace the 3DS as Nintendo's entry level product. It may also not come with a dock but will still retain compatibility with a dock. This would allow them to sell it even cheaper. The idea pushing Nintendo's goal of a family with 3 kids, buying a Switch for each kid. Then buying one dock to plug into the TV.

That's what alot of quarter back couch says they don't understand tech and it's limitations as you get smaller and smaller bigger and bigger problems crop up. There's only so much you can shrink before you start to encounter bigger problems. Smaller screen size doesn't make better game play on portable.

This sounds like the most plausible future NSW that will come but I doubt it's most likely probably 10 yrs time frame before we see this and if it comes sooner maybe in 5 yrs. I doubt they want to ruin a good thing they have going right now to piss off NSW owners when they have yet figure a way for us to backup the game saves. If they come up with something on a PC where you can offload your saves and restore them back to the NSW Pro 2.0HD then they can bring out the NSW 2.0. I think most current owners including me would gladly buy the NSW Pro units and transfer data to it and sell their old NSW. So til they get their Online services and or both software for NSW owners to backup and transfer their Game saves I don't think they will release a NSW 2.0 anytime soon.
