Well this thread is kinda pointless for a while then.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

@Dogtanian even if there's a big holiday release they are now looking thin on what can included for a Direct with blowing their load with the shadow drops and the Mario Direct so I agree with @Balta666 that it's unlikely to be another proper Direct this year.

just i have said severals times here, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is gonna be the Holiday title of Switch for 2021 and to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the franchise.

i like HD Rumble.

They really have split up general directs into Indie Spotlights, Partner Showcases and First party twitter trailers for imminent games. I wouldn't hope to be seeing a general Direct anytime in the foreseeable. And for those who can't get their head around their communication strategy, stop trying, sit down and play some games. It's not rocket science, and I would hate to think it was stressing you out.

@Dogtanian all the known insiders are saying this is it (first party wise)

A general Direct in 2020 seems almost impossible right now. But that doesn't mean we're not getting more announcements or showcases.

We're almost sure to get another Sakurai Presents, maybe a Pokémon (Mini) Direct to showcase the upcoming DLC and I have a feeling Hyrule Warriors might get a Treehouse Live Presentation this month.

@MarioBrickLayer Hyrule Warriors have more in common with the Zelda games than some of the rubbish Mario gets his name put onto. Even the good Mario spin offs sound terrible on paper like Mario using a gun whilst teaming up with Rabbids instead of Rayman or the short fat Mario having multiple sports games.

@GrailUK Indie stuff was always separate for Switch, you always had an Indie presentation around March and August. But apart from that yeah the 1st party tweet announcements, the Direct Mini in March, the Mario 35th anniversary Direct in September and the Partner Showcases combined would've made up the March general Direct and E3 Direct. Bakugan was probably originally planned for E3 Treehouse Live hence why a Paper Mario + Bakugan Treehouse Live happened in July (without Bakugan, the Paper Mario content would've likely been just a trailer).

However, I don't think any of the announcements so far would've been September general Direct content if the pandemic wasn't around.

I think with the new Hyrule warriors being revealed we are mostly set for the remainder of the year. Anything they might still show is a bonus.

I think you're right. I wonder what this means for Metroid Prime 4? I assumed BOTW2 would come in the first half of 2021 and Metroid Prime 4 would be the holiday game...Metroid Prime 4 becomes 2022?

Forget what I said about the Treehouse Live Presentation. Apparently Koei Tecmo has an event at TGS on 26th September. They'll probably show more there.

@Grumblevolcano Yeah I know indies have been a thing. But I think it's obvious it's how they mean to go on for the rest of the year. And Hyrule Warriors 2 was so Direct worthy! Blimey! Hope we see Prince of Persia in the Ubisoft show, but I'll not be sitting through it live lol.

@MarioBrickLayer I'd expect Metroid Prime 4 to be 2022 at the earliest. Wouldn't surprise me if it's still not ready by then.

Yeah, MP4 was completely scrapped and it's more of an AAA production so it can take forever to release.

@MarioBrickLayer MP4 was most likely targeting a 2022 release date to begin with (development likely restarted mid-2018), so with delays I'd expect either late 2022 or 2023 for it. In other words, don't hold your breath for news anytime soon.

All good points on MP4!

What does everyone think is the maximum number of Zelda games Nintendo would release next year?

Assume BOTW2 + a mario style 35th Anniversary collection, but what if the collection didn't include Wind Waker or Twilight Princess...

Could we see 4 releases? BOTW2 + 35th Collection + Wind Waker HD (port) + Twlight Princess HD (port)? or maybe 3 if Wind Waker and Twilight Princess was a double pack

There are also the rumours about Skyward Sword...
