@BruceCM - Time isn’t real, but the 4DS will include time travel. In fact, it’s already time traveled to reach us. It was created in 3055 by a descendant of Iwata-San.
@Manah - Yes, it will be compatible with the Power Pro cards. However, the 4DS is not only region locked, it’s federation locked. Thus, only fans and alumni of Memphis Power Pro Wrestling will be able to scan the Power Pro cards. Source? Wikipedia of course.
@bimmy-lee this is false trolling. Anyone that read can read for reading about not Wikipedia have all not answers. Until concreatory proff is presents at Christmas, one should look before whom leaps.

Poppycock, Iwata's frozen brain get's defrosted in 3055 and is then grafted onto a 80ft mecha-emplyee, complete with missile fingers, screwdriver thumbs and a spanner toes so he can finally complete his great unfished work the quality of life gizmo, but get's bored and creates the 4DS in his spare time.
@jump - I trust the screwdriver thumbs are of the triwing variety?
@Obito_Sigma - Yeah, middle school can be tough for some people. It’s full of sarcastic party poopers, and who likes that? I hope high school is going a little better.
The Tegra X1 in the current Switch is 2015 tech. The latest and greatest mobile chipsets are pushing more TFLOPs than either the base PS4 or XBone. So by the time the Switch successor rolls out in 2021 (or whenever) casual Switch fans shouldn't worry about losing third party support. The technology is there, ready to go. Nintendo is just waiting for prices to come down.
The real question is, will Nintendo stay with the Switch concept or will they try to reinvent the wheel again like they did with the Wii?
There's one thing that you can count on, and that's for Nintendo to not do what you expect. Although video games are their main business, at their core they're still a toy company.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,247 games (as of April 15th, 2024)

Well obviously the new handheld will be made in partnership with Microsoft and be the Nintendo Game Box it will only play Android Gatcha games and Microsoft GamePass titles streamed very poorly over 3G.

switch is a home console / handheld.
switch lite is a handheld.
there won't be a pure successor to the 3DS
Couldn't have said it better. And there is nothing light other then the word Lite. Other then if you want to have rumble and Joy-Con feature you would have to buy a pair of Joy-Con.
Yeah Switch Lite is obviously the 3DS successor. I think that's what Nintendo will do for the next few generations now. The same platform but with a handheld-only version and then a more powerful docked version. Makes sense really. Multiple hardware products for different audiences but consolidates all software development.
There may be a separate platform intended to be a 3DS successor, but that's just speculation for now. The fact that they've got a main Pokemon game, a franchise they've always kept to their portable platforms, coming for the Switch is a good indicator that the lines have been blurred and that Nintendo likely views the Switch, accurately in my opinion, as primarily a portable system. I wonder if Nintendo could have done more to continue supporting the 3DS even with the Switch available and doing well.
