Since Wikipedia calls Switch Lite a Switch, and Switch a home console, it means Switch Lite is a home console, thus a 3DS successor is coming out soon, because the 3DS is really starting to lose steam. When it does, boy is it going to have an uphill battle against a home console of all things! I mean Nintendo would have themselves a good if they would have had Switch replacing both, but since it only replaces Wii U (according to Nintendo and also covered in Wikipedia), it means it's a home console, Switch Lite included as it's part of the family. I don't think the 4DS is going to do very well since there's now a home console that will heavily compete with it, despite being in a different market- home console to handheld. I think this means the 4DS will have an uphill battle its entire life, but since Nintendo prides itself on handhelds, they'll easily stick with it. I can't wait until it comes out so they can port some of these home console games like Pokemon, Link's Awakening, Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion back to a handheld. I'd LOVE to play these on the go, something I can't do with a home console, which is what Switch Lite is.
Rather than Nintendo developing games & hardware for a two different consoles, handheld 3ds and a home console, they purposely combined the handheld & home console to streamline things and let them focus all their resources to one console, the Switch, which can be both handheld & home console. Switch Lite is the dedicated handheld now - the 3ds successor. That's been Nintendo's plan since development of the Switch.
The 4DS will only be playable in the upside down. It will require a surgical implant to link the OS to the user’s mind. There will be no folders or themes. We will need to evolve more eyes to utilize all eight scratched screens, but volume drift will be fixable by shooting canned air into our ears. It only hurts the first time.
I prefer it called Nintendo HDS.
HD on the top with Dual screen, same size upper and lower screen, have 3D slider, can play also All 3DS, NDS and GBA games regardless of its region.
The 4DS will mix every game's soundtrack with Tora's voice clips from Xenoblade 2 and the only way unlock the game soundtrack only version is to complete the hit 4DS game, Tiger! Tiger! 2.
The Tiger! Tiger! 2! dlc will scratch the 4DS screens with its sharp claws. The final, final boss of the season pass will be a spider. One leg for each screen. There will be a Virtual Console for the 4DS, but there will be no games available on it. Just a blank store front.
Tiger’s Tiger! Tiger! 2! featuring Torna e-reader baseball expansion is actually a fitness game. The e-reader itself is a baseball bat, and the dlc cards are baseballs. An online subscription will be necessary to matchmake offline multiplayer at your nearest ball diamond.
