I would be all over a Valstrax amiibo. I already have a ton of the figure builder figures for the 3rd and 4th gen monsters. And I have all six of the MH Stories amiibo (that was an incredible game btw- shame they didn't bring that one to Switch, cause I just don't wanna continue playing on 3DS nowadays). But an official amiibo would be killer. Or better yet an amiibo of the classic monster hunter in Rathalos armor or something

Just hoping in to ask a simple question to all the wonderful people on NL forums: as someone who has never touched a MH game before is Generations Ultimate a good start? What i'm trying to figure out here is if Generations Ultimate is not too overwhelming for a newbie to get started but complex enough to keep playing once you get the hang of it.
Or do you think that maybe MH World is a better starting point to get into the series?
@Syndrome world is more accessible. It also lives longer, once you're in the groove of it. Some veterans have played it less though, because there's an easy patch between the 30-50 ranks that gives you fewer new rewards if you don't know where to look (there's a different system in events, bounties and investigations). That's... an odd combination. It will be hard for me to go back to generations ultimate after that game.
Generations ultimate has all kinds of additions and evolutions in monsters though. This makes it "huger", for lack of a better word. It features improvements on otherwise typical stupid capcom design decisions that world still has because that one is the first of its kind. It also takes longer to give it a start, however. You'll test weapons, get eaten by monsters and die lots more wondering how the hell people even slay these guys.
The clicking, so to speak, will be later in the game, then - but that's also the psychological mechanic that makes people more invested in sticking with it. If you pick up any monster hunter other than world, you'll have a great time regardless - only a step or two later in the process.
edit: I personally think world is by far the best monster hunter yet. I'm in since tri on wii. fyi
@Tsurii i disagree but thats beside the point. He is asking what game is better for a newbie. World actually tries to be more accessible to new players, or do you dispute that to?
@diwdiws@erv Thx for your replies. I was thinking about World myself, one point being that i have a couple of friends on PS4 who might be interested in playing it too. Though i'll prob wait for a sale rather than buying it full price. Cheers.
Prowler mode gives you less stuff to worry about, you don't have to deal with items for the most part. (only on certain quests) As for equipment, you can use whatever...no grinding for a gem or something. Even though you'll have less health, you You can fully go to zero a couple of times before actually fainting. How you actually fight is entirely up to you, I usually do the boomerrang setup thing, it's easier. (Boomerrang Pro skill + Big Boomerrangs and Piercing Boomerrangs) Monsterdar and Pro Trapper helps as well to make hunts end faster.
