@Bolt_Strike Yeah I agree that the map is poorly designed for backtracking and the world isn’t as interconnected later games that were clearly inspired by Prime. The map in the original Dark Souls is a good example since the opening hub of Firelink Shrine is always a short hike from even late game regions. The use of other types of quick shortcuts like ladders and stairways also made traversal so much easier. Jedi Fallen Order is another example of one that took inspiration from both Prime and DS and cleverly used both fast travel and shortcuts to good effect.
It’s still an admirable first bunt into making a 3D Metroid map, but it shows its age a bit now.
Alrighty folks. Kind of hit my first road block in the game. I believe the only item I need to progress is either the heat resistant suit or the spider ball. The only locations I can't seem to explore have those requirements as obstacles. Any tips or suggestions?
@NintendoByNature You'll be getting the Spider Ball much later than the Varia Suit, so it's definitely not that. But we'll need a bit more information to help you (I do think I know where you are, but I'm not sure so I'll need you to verify). What powerups do you have/what was the last one you got? Do you have the hint system on? If so, what room is it suggesting? We can't really tell how far you are just by which powerups you're being blocked by, there's a lot of them at various points in the game and most of them are just backtracking for expansions, not to actually progress the game.
@Oswinner I honestly do hope they keep the remasters coming or I'll just seek out emulation at some point so I can give Echoes a go. I didn't like this one as much as others did, but the point of sequels is to improve upon what came before, so I'll gladly give the other two and eventually Prime 4 a chance.
I keep buying fighting games for some reason, even though I barely got anyone to play against.
@TheBigBlue
I'd prefer Remasters. But just getting the game(s) on Switch with dual analog gyro controls is more than enough to satisfy me as an alternative.
I don't give a flip about the cost. $120 for 3 games is a fantastic deal to me anyways, given some games cost $70 nowadays. I'd pay much more than that to get all 3 games on Switch, that's for sure.

Despite the issues with PrimeHack on SteamDeck, I started a new save file for Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. If it means only playing in short bursts before the framerate chugs, so be it. But I cannot resist any longer.
I will say though, as good as it feels playing MP2 on Deck with the freedom of handheld mode and dual analog aiming with gyro... it really makes me want a remaster all the more.
For one, I notice not having that sweet HD rumble every time I charge a shot or land from a jump. It's such a small thing, but I noticed it's absence right away. For two, the graphics are much worse now after playing the remaster. I mean, it's still totally playable rendered at 720p, but it feels so dated now after playing Metroid Prime Remastered on Switch.
Even if I beat this entire game again, I'll play it all over again if it ever comes to Switch. I want to experience it in Remastered form, with TV, tabletop and handheld modes, HD rumble, 5.1 surround... all of it. I just need my fix to hold me over until then.

@Tendo64 I thought omega pirate was going to be a roadblock for me because how finnicky it all is to switch visors and targets, and the stupid waiting phases with the syphon, but then on the third attempt I just steamrolled the fight... it was very odd, hope you get through it soon. Definitely a low point for me too.

I've come that close a bunch of times and can't help but think if I had just one more energy tank I'd have no problems surviving. I'm currently on 10 and considering going to look for another, only I'm not sure I can be arsed traversing the huge map.
@Bolt_Strike you can disregard. I figured it out. Turns out I wasn't scanning the symbols in the larger area that held a giant tree in chozo ruins I believe? All good now. I got the suit and I'm headed to magmoor caverns
I was in college when the original Metroid Prime hit the Gamecube, and I spent every free time I had playing it. The second was good too, but way too difficult; it took months to even figure out the light and dark world dynamics, and how to play them off each other. As for the third game, I tried it a couple times, but the Wii controls really threw me off, and I couldn't even get past the first major creature I encountered.
God, guns, and guts made America; let's keep all three.
Took down the c*** Omega Pirate after a lot of attempts.
One of the toughest boss battles in recent memory for me - Thunderblight Ganon in BOTW springs to mind as the other one. The final boss of Dread was pretty tough too.
I would sit around all day and watch my brother play Metroid Prime, 8 hours a day, sometimes 10 hrs. I was so engrossed in the game just from watching, I went out and bought a Platinum GameCube with Metroid Prime and the demo disc for Metroid Prime 2. And, I bought Metroid Prime 2 as well.
I still regard MP2 as the best of the Trilogy. I think they're all amazing games, but 2 is something really special. While Prime 1 is excellent, it does feel a little bit too by the book. And I mean, that's totally understandable. It was the first foray into 3D. They modeled it after Super Metroid. But MP2 allowed them to flex their creative muscles. The dread and horror of seeing galactic fed soldier strung upside down with data logs describing their deaths, one soldier actually experiencing cardiac arrest from fear... it's just so good.
I don't remember much of Prime 3, but I do remember loving it and having a really good time with all the motion control integration like using the grapple beam to yank shields away and loose debris. It was a different flavor of Metroid, but I remember I had a blast playing it. And it's nice not getting the exact same thing every time. Variety is the spice of life and all that.
I just really love Metroid.
