Since Nintendo Life has gotten into the habit of releasing the Japanese charts one day late, might as well just make a thread that might actually be able to post then with in 24 hours.

Now that the PS Vita is officially out of production in Japan is looks as though its sales numbers have spiked as folks try to grab a new model before they're completely gone. A sad end to what is (was) a solid portable platform. It's still the only place to play Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker portably with dual analog stick support or play Final Fantasy VIII portably at all (although...PSP for that one as well). But if you're a fan of PS1 rpg games, how could you say "no" to owning a Vita?

@Magician I’ll light a candle for the Vita. I never got one, but I have a PSP and it is still a great handheld. The Vita may not have sold brilliantly, but it’s helped keep publishers and developers like NIS, Gust, Falcom, Vanillaware and even Atlus, to some extent, afloat. And we are already, to some extent, reaping the benefits on Switch.

True, but I'm still shocked Vanillaware haven't brought their catalogue of games to the Switch. Nintendo must have truly offended them back in the Wii era.

Didn't seem to affect Nintendo they are still going and now Vanillaware comes crawling back to Nintendo so whom left whom.
and now Vanillaware comes crawling back to Nintendo
?
They haven't crawled back to Nintendo. So I'm not quite sure what you mean by this statement.

I wonder what the chances are of Switch getting a port of that, considering how well Ys VIII sold?

@Magician How did Ys VIII sell on Switch? From the fact they're not developing Ys IX for Switch, I feared it hadn't sold that well.
Much like Atlus, Falcom is a pro-PlayStation platform company. The only reason the Switch got a port of Ys VIII is because Falcom were approached by NIS. As for how well Ys VIII sold, it sold well. Last reports mentioned 500k+ copies sold across Switch, Vita, and PS4 combined. But I can't find anything in regards to the split for each platform. Regardless, the Switch won't get another Ys game unless XSEED or NIS do something about it.
P.S. - One of the boutique publishers might also be interested. Play-Asia or Limited Run, they've published Ys games in the past as well.

They may still port it later. I'm going to wait a bit before buying just in case.

I am kinda surprised people are still buying the base model PS4 so much, as opposed to PS4 Pro, or waiting for PS5 and/or the inevitable price drops on PS4/PS4Pro that will follow.
