@Plexagon Or it could be just a regular Koopa.

Currently procrastinating on: implementing virtual memory and synchronization.
Currently distracted with: Mario Tennis Aces

It looked like a Yoshi to me

Hm yes looking at it again, that's definitely a regular koopa troopa.

Speaking of unlockables, how are they going to work? Will there be a way to unlock characters in the game or will some only be unlocked through the tournaments? I'm also really want to know if the alts will be actual costumes or just reskins.

On an unrelated note, I like the inclusion of Chain Chomp. It's a character we haven't gotten to play as in the spin-offs yet and I like how he holds the racket in his mouth.

If it's $60, I might pass. Not because it looks bad, but because of the same reason I didn't buy ARMS, content looks lacking.
Plus, I didn't see Birdo, so that doesn't help.

@Kinoen I bought Arms for $60 when it first came and felt I got my money's worth although admittedly I don't play it much these days. I hope Sprixie comes back because I passed on Ultra Smash and loved 3D World and she seemed like an interesting character.

@Tsurii There will be a demo of some sort. And yes, both Mario tennis 64 and gamecube were a thing.

They're doing both, I think that's why you may be confused.

We'll be getting a Mario Tennis Aces free online tournament that will be available as a free demo to download from the Switch eShop.

When the game is released there will also be online tournaments (kinda like Splatfests, I presume), and participating will allow you to unlock new outfits and playable characters.

I'm probably the only one that cares, but I love that they included motion controls.

I had a lot of fun with Wii Sports Tennis back on the Wii, and I'm glad the Switch will still have something kinda like that.

I think this is the same for Dark Souls Remastered, so if anyone who is like me and is interested but unsure, this would be the perfect opportunity to test it out. I am on the fence about Mario Tennis Aces as well, so will also be trying this out during the online tournament.

Was kinda lukewarm on this game at first. I was still planning to get it but, there wasn't a whole lot of hype.

But after that Direct, I'm drooling for Aces. It's like the Odyssey of Mario Tennis. Nintendo devs bringing their A game to Switch across the board.

Definitely not, I was very happily surprised that they included that. Sports games with motion controls can be loads of fun IMO.

I just hope that the motion controls are somewhat "1:1" and not that they just mimic the direction you slash in. It's fun to be able to rotate the racket etc.

More games with special meter should give you multiple options to spend it, rather than having to wait for it to fill completely for a payoff (looking at ARMS and Pokken).

This game looks much better than Ultra Smash

@Aaron09 This game is pretty much what Ultra Smash SHOULD'VE been. I just hope Sprixie returns cuz I never got a chance to play as her.

I was optimistic in he direct but reading this gets me more excited. I’m still waiting for a review, ultra smash and all, but I might be getting this.

I honestly think that this looks like the best game in the series since Mario Power Tennis on the GameCube. It's crazy considering how meh the 3DS one was, and how much of a shameless cash grab the Wii U one was.

I decided to replay some of the older games in anticipation and honestly I think the GBC game plays better then the N64 game imo. Anyone else?

So, we're not gonna get anymore info on this game until E3 are we?

@Snaplocket I think it'll end up like ARMS regarding promotion.
