Topic: Mario Tennis Aces

Mario Tennis comes to Nintendo Switch with a Story Mode, something that hasn't happened since the games on GBC and GBA. The Story Mode features Mario characters who can compete in missions and even boss battles. Mario and company also wear tennis outfits for the first time. Mario Tennis Aces releases this Spring.

Are you looking forward to it? I thought Mario sports games had gotten into a real rut recently, but this looks to be trying to reverse that.

Looks like nintendo listened to their fans for once.

Maybe they'll also make a normal mario party too?

Oh god, I hope they will! And if it‘s just mediocre like the GC Mario Party’s. Anything‘s better than 9 and 10.

Anyway, I loved the GC Mario sports titles. Every single one of them. This already looks infinitely better than Open and Ultra Smash. Hope they‘ll do something like that with Golf, too! Not to mention Baseball. The Wii one never came to Europe sadly.

@Meowpheel Top 100 was a step in the right direction, all that game needed was boards from 1-8 and it would've been a very good Mario Party.

This literally looks like the Mario Tennis game I've been waiting for since Power Tennis on Game Cube (Tennis Open wasn't bad, but Ultra Smash is...just garbage). Power Tennis formula returning in some form, Mario-themed courts, Story Mode? Hype. Hopefully there's plenty of content for it, though.

Aside from Mario Golf: World Tour, agreed. In fact, I feel like Mario Sports Mix was the last great Mario Sports game, in my opinion.

Mario Aces looked ok. Not sure if it will be one that I pick up or not.

So many minigames and so little to do with them, it's sad, really.

Love tennis games. Provided this has some decent RPG elements amid the fun story mode, I will lap this up. It's still only a tennis game, though - I'm hoping for more of a mid-tier price.

It was about time the male characters got sporty outfits too.

I'm a bit suprised Wario seems to have Jerry hair, instead of the same hairstyle as everyone else.

Edit: Also what the heck is wrong with the toad behind wario.

Remember guys, its still Camelot. They still have every possibility to mess it up considering their recent track record. I will continue to hope for the best, but the best is still Camelot.

Please tell me it's an actual story mode like the Gameboy games....

Them classy wah outfits. I'm surprised they decided to show Wario and Waluigi over other characters. Nintendo keeps giving me vibes that they'll finally release a Waluigi (or at least Wario + Waluigi) game soon. Between this and the Odyssey outfit and the unconventional games (or whatever it was) they teased, it really seems like it will happen at some point.

I guess they did it because these outfits are a new feature for them.

The princesses have been using sports clothes for a few years now. And I somehow don't think the likes of Yoshi and the Kongs will be wearing much.

Maybe visors?

@Meowpheel That makes good sense but I'm still hoping. Even if they are the four characters with new outfits, it still means they care about Waluigi enough to give him some primary screen time.

Them chaps is lookin snazzy rockin they smooth sporty threads.

And the game has the potential to be amazing. I really hope the story mode is half as good as the GameBoy titles'.

I only played the GBC game, but playing as your own character was fun. Going up against new non-Mario characters just so you could one day up go against those legends. lol

Mario was basically a celeb you rarely see in that game, I kinda liked that. xD

Ah, my favorite type of sequel. The "apology for the last game" sequel.

I remember being disappointed with Mario Tennis Open when it came out.

But then Ultra Smash came around and proved that things can always be worse.

So... This title already looks more promising already. I'll be looking forward to more information...
