It looks more.... muted? Like, it's a much less saturated colour scheme than before. I honestly prefer it though, the old one is a bit much in regards to saturation.

The windows also look more reflective, and...not in a good way. Was hoping the tracks would have improved visually at least a bit by the time they released, and yet 3 of the tracks look the same and Coconut Mall looks worse lol

I think that it looks better than what was originally shown. Still not quite as good as the base game, but a lot better. It's definitely more colorful, especially on Coconut Mall.

I just rewatched the booster pass trailer from the direct. I think the pics in
Grumblevolcano's link look the same.

Tried to three star 200cc Lightning Cup. Took me 5x to get grumble volcano down again. Then had to race the cup about 5+ times, due to my screwing up or ai weapons stealing 1st place from me.

I think they will just port over tracks from Tour/make the retro courses look like they are from Mario Kart Wii so it will take much less time to make them. They have probably secretly been working on Mario Kart 10, which will come out maybe in 2024/2025.

@WoomyNNYes All of them look pretty much the same except for Coconut mall. It's a lot more colorful, has more realistic lighting, more props, and a warmer look all around. The other 3 look pretty much untouched, which is fine by me. I think the only one that really needed any extra work was Coconut Mall.

Here's a video by Gamexplain that briefly shows off the changes. You can clearly see a difference when compared side-by-side!

@StarPoint was right! Thanks for the clip. And thanks Gamexplain.

I Wonder if we'll be lucky enough that dlc tracks go live thursday night at midnight.

The Xbox 360 era taught me how online will be when the new tracks are added. A typical course selection:

  • Wii Coconut Mall
  • N64 Choco Mountain
  • 3DS DK Jungle
  • Random

Over half the lobby proceeds to pick DK Jungle and it gets selected.

@Grumblevolcano I really don't like DK Jungle and don't see the appeal of it at all. To me, it's just Donkey Kong Country Returns: The Track and nothing more. If you're looking for a good 7 track in 8 Deluxe, just pick Piranha Pipeway or Melody Motorway, they are superior in basically every way.

Does mario kart 8 deluxe booster course pass download to the the game cartridge or the sd card, or where does it go.

Ninfan

WoomyNNYes

@Ninfan Nothing gets saved to the Switch cartridges. Updates, DLC, game save data are saved to the Switch's internal memory or micro sd card.

@Fizza I wasn't too big into DK Jungle either. It's an ok track but yeah, there are many other MK8 tracks I'd be more excited to race on, including the ones you've mentioned.

@Ninfan It goes to the microSD card or internal storage. (I think it defaults to the microSD if you have it inserted.) Also, the download is pretty much an ownership key, so the game will know that you have the DLC. The new tracks will come in updates.

@Fizza While the track itself is fine I feel the most disappointing part about DK Jungle is its a reminder that the last DK game was 8 years ago, given the timing of MK8 I'd guess it was added as a retro track to help promote Tropical Freeze. The Retro DK games are so good and to be honest a 3rd game would've been more exciting to me than Prime 4 especially as we've seen nothing about Prime 4 yet.

I really like DK Jungle. I'll admit the music is a big part of that though.

Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music

Same here, I like DK Jungle.

I just got 3 stars on all 200cc tracks, meaning I have 100%ed the Grand Prix mode! It took a few years of off and on playing, but I feel very accomplished now and ready to take on the new courses.
