@Anti-Matter What are you talking about? I'm pretty sure that they were just saying that the servers can tend to run the mode slower than how it is offline. They never even mentioned F-Zero, so I'm not sure where you pulled that out. They also never complained about anything, they were simply just addressing it.

@MarioLover92 Looks like your able to charge up sparks so quick. Watching the clip a couple times, it looks like you did get the soft-drifts. Ahh I think I hear the brake drifts on turns 2 and 3. Nice though, you're blasting through that part of Neo.
It definitely feels like something wonky is going on with the servers. People keep dropping out and then reappearing on the course selection screen, the course select process doesn't start when all people have voted, etc. It's been happening since around April but it became more prominent after the recent maintenance.
@Grumblevolcano I remember there being instances a few months back where there would be a random Mario CPU that would come out of nowhere to join the race I was currently in. The weirdest part? They had an online name but no country or ranking. What's even stranger is that on one occasion, there were two of them with the exact same name but once again no country or ranking. MK8 online is just weird like that I suppose, I hope they can get it sorted by the time Wave 2 comes out.

@Ninfan@Grumblevolcano@Fizza@tekoii@MarioLover92@StarPoint Part of me hopes that wave 2 is taking so long so Nintendo can retexture the wave 1 tracks as well to bring parity to the base game visuals and the booster course pass visuals.
@Fizza Those would be people with spoofed IP's. That's how the MK8D servers handle that. Good chance they're playing from a country or region where video games or online in-general is illegal. As for the random entry into your race? That's been a bug since the Wii U version. Same with two identical racers, the latter being caused when two players join an open room on the same console. It doesn't always happen, but it's a pretty common thing.
@TowaHerschel7 Regarding the texture thing, I kind of doubt they would do that. They likely would have shipped the DLC out with retextured maps before they were released. As much as I would love that, knowing Nintendo, it's highly unlikely.

@TowaHerschel7 Since Booster Pass track waves seem to be part of a marketing strategy, fillling the role that new Smash characters reveals/releases, those were only revealed/released with Nintendo Directs. (anyone correct me if I'm wrong). So, expect Booster Pass wave 2 with Nintendo's Direct. Whenever we get one.
When Nintendo does Directs outside of E3, they're usually in the latter half of the month. Since there's been no E3 this time, that would explain why we haven't gotten a Direct yet. Since today is the 15th, it could happen between now and June 30. (depending on how much they want to tease us)(Or, they're totally scrambling to add HD textures to MK8D wave 2!!!!, and are in crisis mode! - "Holy S**t! We totally forgot to add textures! Miyamoto, you lied, said they wouldn't notice!!!! Someone climb a vine to the clouds and find god damn textures!!!) 😁
Obviously, I don't know for sure, but that's what I've been assuming. I could also see Nintendo wanting to wait until after gamesfest, Playstation & Xbox have done their presentations - and those have concluded, as far as I know.
@TowaHerschel7 If Nintendo wants to spread the 6 waves out equally, the release months would be these given wave 1 released in March:
Wave 1 - March 2022
Wave 2 - July 2022
Wave 3 - November 2022
Wave 4 - March 2023
Wave 5 - July 2023
Wave 6 - November 2023
As for the absence of a Direct, it's probably Nintendo wanting to be last to keep the focus on the Switch and there's still 1 big non-Nintendo thing missing. God of War Ragnarok, it's scheduled for this year but hasn't appeared at any of this month's events yet.
@WoomyNNYes The Smash DLC character reveals were typically done in Sakurai's own livestreams I believe (I don't consider them directs, honestly), and Sephiroth was revealed at a Game Awards conference.

OK, so why can't Sony be doing that on the 30th, @Grumblevolcano ....? Would Nintendo want to wait until July? Also, would they be likely to know when Sony is going to do that before the rest of us?
Min Min - Teased in Direct Mini (ARMS coming to Smash), reveal in Sakurai stream
Steve - Sakurai stream
Sephiroth - Game Awards
Pyra/Mythra - General Direct
Kazuya - General Direct
Sora - Teased in general Direct, reveal in Sakurai stream
Also the way Byleth and Steve were revealed gave the sense that if the pandemic didn't happen they would've been general Direct announcements. Like Byleth's reveal trailer in the context of a general Direct would've been "is this Three Houses DLC? No, it's Byleth in Smash".
@Grumblevolcano Oops, my mistake. Talk about a bad memory on my part, lol. I must have been thinking about the livestreams where Sakurai showed how to play as the DLC characters. Thanks for the correction!
@TowaHerschel7 Yea, that'd be great! I do hope they also toss in some battle courses or something also. I feel like I heard something on that somewhere..
@tekoii I don't expect more battle courses to make it in since Nintendo made it clear that they're just having 48 more race courses for the DLC. By the way, I'm kind of surprised that they didn't have any of Mario Kart 64's battle courses come to MK8D. It's one of the most iconic in the series after all; I've played it a ton when I was a child and it was the first Mario Kart game I've played.

It's funny, I hadn't touched the MK8 for almost two months, and I was able to beat my personal best times easily on two or more wave 1 booster tracks. Toad Circuit, and something else. I also got better with tricking the little stair set more consistently at the Coconut Mall entrance; I hit the trick button at the top of those steps, or almost just after the top, and it works. It's not logical, but that's how I was doing it.
