@Marth_is_cool I'd buy those in HD too. But they might need more than a remaster, because I don't think you could play in portable with the controls they have by default.

@Heavyarms55 The Nvidia Shield port of Galaxy 1 mapped the IR pointer to the right stick, but it was not very intuitive to use like it was on the Wii. Spinning was a button press, and I'd imagine that the other stuff like the arcade-stick ball controls and things would have been mapped to sticks and such. So imo it wouldn't need that much work to get it on it period, but it wouldn't be the best way to play by far.

So they have the basic framework already, they just need to translate it to Switch.

Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.

If they ever remaster 64 and Sunshine that looks and plays like Odyssey, I'd buy them in a heart beat. Though, realistically, Nintendo would sell them separately for $60 a pop, which would be fine for me.

Oddly enough the portable factor hadn't even crossed my mind, would certainly be an added bonus of course.

I just find that unless you still have an old Gamecube knocking around and a physical copy of Sunshine it's pretty much impossible to play these days.

As some one else pointed out, it's very strange considering the amount of remakes we get that Nintendo have never re-visited Mario Sunshine, either as a sequel or HD upgrade.

I still have easy access to play Mario 64 on the Wii U Virtual console but it is starting to show it's age now, in terms of how it looks at least.

If they re-mastered both games to look and play like Odyssey does I think any sane Mario fan would buy it without question.

As I pointed out in my Original OP Activision have shown how it can be done with the Crash Bandicoot & Spiro series. Both games on the one cartridge for a reasonable price

@Marios-love-child I don't mind how the old games look, but it is a pain to have a bunch of old consoles hooked up at once, and also a pain switching them around every time I want to play an older game. When Switch was announced, the idea of a single device that could function as both portable and console and support the retro content as well as new content was like a dream come true. Seeing as Nintendo seems to have moronically abandoned virtual console, my hope now would be for some of these classics to get HD remasters.

In Mario 64's case, I would want an HD remaster that lets you play either the original version's levels, or play the DS version's levels with all 4 characters and bring back the mini games.

I have played through the DS version but Mini Games aside (which were great) I just never really took to it. I found the controls to be quite clunky and the extra 30 stars selling point I found to be a bit miss-leading as well.. I just found it rather disappointing and to this day still prefer the original N64 version.

I still haven't given up hope one day we'll get to play Game Cube games on the Switch but if not this particular re-master would do just nicely

Sunshine is absolutely itching for a remake. Better graphics (obv), better camera, maybe some tinkering with the blue coins and some hand-holding options to help the less hardcore through the non-FLUDD levels.

Mario 64 would need a graphical overhaul but I don’t think they’d need to do much with the actual gameplay. Include the extra stars and multiplayer stuff from the DS version obviously.

I doubt they’d be in a Collection though. I think you’re looking at separate games there.

Considering how lately it feels like Nintendo has set up some of their IP to have a full series of remake releases (we got an FE and Metroid remake the year after the most recent Zelda remake), it is awkward that Nintendo remade a ton of Mario games for handhelds in the span of 5 years and then never remade a Mario platformer again. Especially since Mario Sunshine could use a remake (or a sequel that makes Fludd more consistently fun, quite frankly). Based on previous remakes, Switch should totally get remakes of Sunshine, FE3, Skyward Sword, D/P/P, and even Super Metroid.
