I ordered a physical copy. I get some of the comments about wanting more significant remasters, i've been saying for ages my preference for 64 would have been a Links Awakening style release, even if it ended up costing more.
I haven't played 64 or Galaxy and really want to play Sunshine again so personally it's good value.
One slight disappointment for me with the announcement was that they didn't confirm Odyssey 2, I didn't need a release date, but confirming (if) it is in development would have been an amazing end to the presentation.
@Dezzy i'm sure RGT85 was saying the inage is much sharper? The background blur in the gamecube release seems to be gone. I don't know what it takes to achieve that.
@MarioBrickLayer Because it runs at a higher resolution, and not on a crappy CRT TV like you're used to. The ''background blur'' was actually a heat effect. It would be a shame if that was gone.
@MsJubilee
Pretty much. If one chooses to not buy the game in a six month window then that person clearly doesn’t want it. We are not talking about a limited edition that’s going to sell out of pre-orders in a 3-day period and, oh well, guess you’re out of luck. We’re talking about a game that’s going to literally sell to any person on this entire planet who wants to buy it for an entire half year time span.
Anyone who goes without... goes without by choice.

Yes, you have, as have I. But you did so knowing you had the time to do so. This is different because they’re telling you upfront you have X amount of time. So you know beforehand that if you want it you need to buy it before March. And that comes down to a personal choice you make.

Please, enough with the “everyone can’t afford” argument. This is video games, not a 401(c) charity. If people can’t afford things then they can’t afford them, that’s life.
Not to mention the fact we’re not talking about buying a $250,000 house, but a $60 video game. If someone can’t afford $60 in six months, I’d say they have bigger issues to worry about, and probably shouldn’t be wasting money on frivolities such as entertainment in the first place. By that logic video games should be produced forever, for the sake of whatever poor sap couldn’t afford them the first 5 years they were on the market. There’s always people who will go without, but if someone can’t afford a $60 game in 6 months, I’m not concerned about whether they get a frivolous distraction, I’m more worried they actually aren’t starving to death and have a roof over their head.

@MarioBrickLayer I’m 99.99% sure Galaxy 2 will come as DLC along the line sometime. Even if the first one was better (my opinion of course, don’t get mad) it was still a fun platformer and I’d love to play it again.
@Octane That’s usually how it goes for me. The only time I get any game older then 6 months is because I either didn’t enjoy those types of games until a specific time, or the price was too steep and I wanted to wait for a sale.
Sure, but not everyone's seen them running in 1080p before. Nor can a compressed youtube video really do justice to how great they can look. Galaxy certainly looks awesome at 1080p. I've emulated it in Dolphin.
Sunshine and Galaxy look so good. Because of the art style, they look almost as good as a modern Switch game. But we’ve been saying that for years, just based off how good those games look in Dolphin.
3 of the best games of all time, finally in HD, in one package, both handheld and console... it won’t be nominated for any awards because of the nature of the release being already existing games, but at least for me, this is one of the most impactful and meaningful releases of the generation. Add in Mario 3D World and Odyssey, and you have every mainline 3D Mario on one hybrid system (barring Galaxy 2, of course).

@StuTwo I have no doubt that Odyssey is what I least want Mario to be. I think it's, precisely, all the good stuff that Super Mario Sunshine has in it what makes it not just worthwhile but the most awesome. I agree with @link3710 because he specified very well the issues, how easily the could be fixed and also with @Ralizah when he noted that just a few shines can be really frustrating. My biggest complaint is actually the lack of track down system for the blue coins but they are optional, anyway. Super Mario 64 and Sunshine need these tweaks more than a much recent game like Galaxy or Galaxy 2 but that's just logical. Super Mario Galaxy (and the sequel) is a lot like Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, made by the same team, it's much more action-oriented than any other 3D Mario game and very streamlined and I'm not being negative here. To be honest, we don't know if Nintendo have improved the gameplay or menus/inventory of Sunshine. Super Mario 64 could do with a new camera.
I watched the trailer on my OLED TV and I noticed the same things that I noticed on my phone, that the frame rate in Super Mario 64 is clearly improved, it looks smooth now. This is also the first time I regret having a Lite and not the regular Switch just to re-play three of my favourite games on this TV.
I just realised Super Mario 3D All-Stars is already (pre-)sold out on Amazon LOL.
