@teo_o It's a shame that the richest Japanese company can't do or pay someone to do with Mario what they did with The Legend of Zelda. Grezzo would have nailed Super Mario 64. It would be funny if this collection gets a higher score on Nintendo Life than Super Mario All-Stars which improved graphics, sound and control with skill and just deserves 7/10 according to them.
I believe I will get the collection. I need to revisit Galaxy, have never played Sunshine at all, and wouldn't mind trying out Super Mario 64 with a new coat of paint. I only just played the latter for the first time a couple of years ago via the Wii U VC. That is if you don't count my disastrous first attempt with Super Mario 64 DS.
@Ralizah Hence the expletives. I also didn't like how Yoshi controlled in general. Clunky Super Mario 64 DS controls aside, that was probably my least favorite control method ever for that character.
At the end of the day, both games are amazing, and like you I can easily acknowledge why some prefer the second game.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
1. Sunshine (most awesome)
2. 64 (most fun except for the camera)
3. Galaxy 2 (a bit more fun than Galaxy, in my opinion obviously, and some bigger planets)
4. Galaxy (I don't like the small planets)
5. 3D World (I hated when I saw it, it looked like Mario Party but then I liked the levels quite much)
6. 3D Land (I didn't like the 2D sections with 3D controls like jumping off ropes but it's not a bad game)
7. Odyssey (most boring, the only Mario 3D game that has disappointed me)
@BlueOcean I think it would help if the blue coins are available in every episode. Because now it's quite complicated. I did manage to do a 100% no guide run when I played through it a few years ago. But that's all down to memory at this point.
@Slowdive nah, not likely. If they were going to do a 3D deluxe port of any kind it would probably be with any of the first 3 games, since they're the most popular. Doing it with a random sequel wouldn't be like Nintendo. That's not saying I wouldn't like one though.
@BlueOcean what was your favorite Sunshine boss battle? Even if it's my least favorite, I think it's bosses are the best. My favorite was PhantaManta honestly. Felt the most unique, which is crazy considering that same game has you cleaning the mouth of an @Eel as a battle.
@MarioBrickLayer I’m 99.99% sure Galaxy 2 will come as DLC along the line sometime.
I really hope so. This reminds me, Super Mario Galaxy 2 includes part of a Super Mario 64 level, Whomp's Fortress, something like that micro-remake would have been cool for Super Mario 64.
@BlueOcean Throwback Galaxy's rendition of the Bob-Omb Battlefield theme is amazing. That level must have been a massive nostalgia bomb for longtime Mario fans.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

It would be very difficult to choose one because, like you said, the boss battles in this game are extraordinary. The first time that you play PhantaManta, it's really unexpected and impressive but I won't spoil it here. This game blew my mind. It's not just sunshine, you know, it has a lot of contrast but everything is perfectly cohesive. You feel that you went there, you are there and you are lost in there, something that don't happen in the other Mario games because they are a bundle of worlds.
Do you guys think that Nintendo is saving up Super Mario Galaxy 2 for something bigger, like a Deluxe/expanded release later?
I honestly will consider Super Mario Galaxy 2 Wii version as the game still can be found from Ebay.
Physical in box with manuals inside and call it a day.
No rumours, no worry.
I loved Mario Odyssey. In hindsight, I wouldn’t say I liked it as much as Zelda BotW, but I still really, really liked it.
Having never played Sunshine or Galaxy, I have no frame of reference. But Mario 64 was a 10/10. I’m not sure how well it will hold up today but I’m interested in finding out. Mario 3D World was better than 3D Land, though I enjoyed both. 3D World was nearly perfect, and I would say... about equal with Odyssey, just in different ways. With the added content it will definitely, at the very least, match Odyssey IMO.
The question is, will Sunshine and Galaxy be even better? All I ever hear is that Galaxy is one of the greatest games ever made. I don’t hear praise like that for Sunshine nearly as much, but the people who do love it seem to really love it. It looks amazing. I missed the entire GC era aside from Metroid Prime 1/2 and F-Zero GX (later played Thousand Year Door and some of Windwaker and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance), but I remember this was during the time we were still referring to console generations in terms of their bits. This was Mario 128, as I recall. This is a game I really need to play and it’ll probably be the first one I do play.

@Octane, @BlueOcean, @TheFrenchiestFry, @1UP_MARIO, @Aozz101x, and anyone else who has or will bring up the resolution for the 3 games.
I believe there's a reason why SM 64 has a lower resolution and no widescreen support. I think that SM64 will end on the N64 NSO app that will (hopefully) happen eventually.
With Sunshine and Galaxy, I believe that they are running on the Nvidia Sheild Wii emulator, thus potentially opening the door for more of the Wii and Gamecube games that are on the Nvidia Sheild in China to come to Switch.
Please give Ninjala a chance, guys. 🤔

Also, if I don't respond to your post within a day (or two), don't worry, I'm not ignoring you. I'm going to be busy, though I will do my best to respond in a timely fashion.
@Ninjalaislit I don't think Sunshine ever came out for that China-exclusive NVIDIA Shield program. Just Galaxy
Also if SM64 is just going to end up on an online service and this is the only chance you get at owning an offline version that doesn't require a subscription or for you to be online to play it, that's completely asinine as a business practice.
@TheFrenchiestFry
I know that it didn't come out on the Nvidia Shield, however the Nvidia Shield is getting both GameCube and Wii games, IIRC.
That's the only reason I can think of as to why it's a limited time offer. Unless Nintendo isn't bringing N64 games to NSO.

@Eel Don’t want to stray to far off topic here, but I didn’t really like The Shining. I guess I went into the movie thinking it was something totally different 🤔 I really liked the book though. Sirena Beach is my favorite place in Sunshine in general.
@Ninjalaislit Well, the 4:3 ratio of Super Mario 64 has something to do with the horizontal resolution. As soon as the collection is released, we'll learn if they are ports or emulators but in any case I think that the games will be released separately and also Super Mario Galaxy 2, hence the limited-time availability of the collection.
@Apportal That's not off-topic, you're still talking about one of the games in the collection.
