@-Green-: There’s a bit more to chew there to be fair. In that case, the merchandise (and now, Go) is what makes most of the money... With the “main series” being almost just a way to introduce new concepts and characters.
So are we having discussions about the Switch's lack of analog triggers for F.L.U.D.D. control yet. Still not sure how that will work, but it NEEDS analog control for the jetpack, coins, ledges and platforms are at varying heights. I think you also need some control for removing the ink, maybe in some of the fights?
1 possible thought I had for no Galaxy 2 was they couldn't fit it on the cart. If they announced 4 games for $80 but only 3 were on the cart and you had to download Galaxy 2 people would have flipped about that as well. These 3 should fit, Mario 64 must be like 64MB w/ those barely improved graphics.
Two 2 packs for $40 each, Mario 64 and Sunshine; Galaxy 1 & 2, would have made more sense to me. Maybe only $30 for Mario 64 and Sunshine w/ Mario 64 looking like the $10 version, but I think they line up better that way. Galaxy 2 as $20 DLC for either version could work, but it will probably be $60 stand alone knowing Nintneod's weirdness.
So, anybody else worried between Pikmin 3 and Mario ports Switch is getting no NEW games this holiday? I didn't pay $300 to double dip on games I already own. Zelda BotW 2, Bayonetta 3, anything?

@Slowdive Maybe it's the pressure from Sony and Microsoft's "most powerful console" battles. Nintendo's struggling on output as it is and that's with Switch being less powerful than the 2013 XB1. Now we're getting into territory where games won't run on PS4/XB1, Microsoft tried to stall it with the "XB1 won't hold back Series X" angle but after lots of backlash and experts like Digital Foundry saying it's wrong it seems even Microsoft are moving away from the crossgen angle.
This means Nintendo has to either release more powerful hardware, accept the Switch is a 1st party and indies machine or start to move away from games.
I was thinking about the reason Galaxy 1 was included instead of both....and wasn't the original released on the Nvidia Shield in China?
It already had the high definition HUD, improved resolution, and the motion controls were mapped to the X and R buttons. Pretty sure the Shield TV and Switch use the same processor too, so this could be a simple port instead of a remaster.
...But maybe this explains why? These seem like a simple "remaster"/port job so it makes sense. If they brought Galaxy over from scratch then 2 would have made sense, but if they're porting the Shield version I'd assume it's easier.
My assumption with the March 31st deadline for when 3D All-Stars wil be delisted from the eShop is so that each game can then be sold individually for $25-$30 a pop from that point forward. You know, buy early, get a discount. Buy later, pay more per game.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
So I just saw the Mario news. I can't be the only one who thinks this collection is the least interesting thing they announced today, right? Like all the other stuff is genuinely interesting in SOME way, this is just "here's some older games in a collection".
Granted, everyone should play Mario Galaxy, so this is a plus by default, but still...not interesting to me as someone who already owns these games.

Nah, its probably just a limited release for the sake of being a limited release (and making this Mario 35th anniversary an event specific to this time that you better get in on when its still around~! or something like that)
I was looking forward to this.
They convinced not to buy it with the "limited time" thing.
So wait, you put no real effort to make it seem like a real celebration of mario and not an easy way to make money, and i have to rush to buy it because by next year they will vanish?
this is the first time nintendo pisses me off.
The guy that made the mario 64 pc port deserves 60 bucks from me. Nintendo doesn't.
I’m sure it’s been noted already but FLUDD in the “special levels” suggests that (thankfully) these won’t just be direct ports (even if I’d have liked to see Mario 64 and Sunshine given a much bigger overhaul).
Hopefully they’ve given Sunshine a lot of sandpaper to it’s many rough edges. An actual functional camera for 64 & Sunshine also seems too obvious and essential not to have been implemented.
