@Ryzaerian
1) It's not circumventing the system. Group memberships are a part of the system.
2) It wasn't a lot of work for me. I let him know I was interested. He sent me an invite. I joined, and then paypal'd him the money. Took... maybe... 20 minutes of my life to set up, and it saved me $12 this year.
I'm failing to see the downside here.

@Ralizah I don’t think there’s a downside. I’m getting a family sub for my family and friends. I think it’s more to do with “your getting a better deal than me and saving money” so I’m not too happy 😉
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.
To each his own, I guess. To me, it just seems like a lot of work for a laughably small amount of money.
Seriously, in what post-apocalyptic, third-world existence is $20 a year too much, to the point that one must hatch a scheme in order to circumnavigate the system? And you’re not even saving 20 bucks. You’re saving a fraction of that.
From a practical/mathematical standpoint, this feels hysterical, exaggerated, and completely, entirely unnecessary.
Spot on man. It’s nothing more than a scheme. It’s funny how people these days expect things to be free.
Is this controversial? I know a fair few people that have already set this up themselves independently. While £18 ($20) might not seem like such a huge amount of money to some, to those who are unable to work due to illness or just don't earn much, every little counts.
Nintendo set up the family package & set to distance limits to where those eight accounts could be.. it just seems like good common sense to make a deal with people you trust to share out the cost.
Though, I completely agree that setting this up on an open forum IS a bad idea. Maybe just link to a Discord group where people can decide to share details?

@DTMOF84 They're not saying you're not allowed to share your thoughts & opinions, they're just saying it's unnecessary. Two different things.
You said this is a scheme, agreed... that's obviously what it is. You also said it's funny how people expect things for free nowadays... nobody has said they expect it free, it says quite clearly in the original post they're looking to reduce the cost. What have you added?
You are not being censored, ironically someone shared their opinion of your comment & you complained about their post.
Now either we can let people get on with the purpose of this thread, or continue to moan about something that you're not being forced to participate in.

@DanteSolablood I did not ironically complain about someone else’s shared opinion. The part about people expecting something for free is easily picked up on from the post to begin with. You’re given access to a service and told from the beginning that it will eventually be paid for. Everyone gets bent out of shape about it when the time comes. I don’t share a lot of the same opinions as a lot of people on here. This is a discussion forum right?
Don’t single me out constantly when the rest of you are continuing the argument and “derailing” the post.
@DTMOF84 Apologies if it seems I'm personally singling you out - that is not my intention... it just appears to me that your argument/opinion is based on an argument that no one has really made. I will express my opinion on what you've said in the thread so far & then leave you alone as I am genuinely not wanting to come across as a bully of any sort.
"Are people really this hard up to spend $20 on this?" "They act like they’re holding onto their last $20 they’ll ever have again." "But paying that $20 is everyone’s crying complaint like they weren’t told you’d pay for it eventually."
All of that is irrelevant, no one in this thread has complained that they were not told that they'd pay for online eventually, neither would it matter. If people want to save money for any reason, why should it matter? The original post was polite, to the point and simply stated they were looking to save money.. no whining, complaining or surprise. The closest I could find to a "complaint was this"..
"Now, I do appreciate too that there are some people who have so much money, or so little understanding of basic economics, or just a bit of insecurity about being seen to be trying to save some money, or that just want to congratulate Nintendo on coming up with such a fantastic service whereby we now pay for things we could do for free on their previous hardware, that don't mind spending 3 times more money on fairly intangible goods like digital subscriptions. And to those people I say, "Good luck!"
While @gcunit 's post DOES mention that the service was previously available for free (and only after you've commented on the matter twice), it seems quite obvious to me that he was simply putting forth the idea that if you WANT to pay full price for the service when you could save money.. please do. Good luck!"
As I said, my only query on your comments on this thread is they all seem to elude to "bent out of shape", "crying complaint", "hard up" and "expecting something for free is easily picked up on from the post to begin with"... but where do you get this from. People can want to save money without ANY of the strawman positions you've labelled them with. People want to save a buck, it's not against the law & it doesn't automatically mean they didn't know there would be a cost.
Anyway, as promised I will leave you alone - the only reason I replied to your comments was because the things you seemed to have issue with were not actually said.

The one amusing upside of seeing this thread derailed is watching someone write multiple post slamming this scheme on the grounds that it’s “a waste of time and energy for little financial gain”, all the while not receiving a penny for the effort they’re putting into opposing it.
@Maxz Aye, the Internet sure is a great outlet for people who are desperate to let others know they're not interested in what those people are doing. So uninterested they'll tell us 3 times
Only 1 space left now in my group. 4 users here can attest to how easy it is. Who's going to be our Charlie Bucket and get the last golden ticket?
I’ve been respectful of the mods’ requests not to further derail the thread. That won’t work, however, if I have to read passive-aggressive, teenage diary trash on the subject of “I just think it’s funny how.”
Either we all stop derailing this thread, or it gets derailed.
One of the subscribers to this NSO family group I organised last year has gone silent on me about renewing this year, so I'm offering up one space in the group. Same terms as last year - £5 GBP via PayPal for 12 months. First year went very smoothly, no issues at all that I'm aware of, which I think Ralizah, Octane and Honelith can all attest to. @ me here or email if you want in.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
