I bought a Switch Oled and completed a system transfer from my Lite to the new tablet and everything seemed to have gone well.
Last night I went to play some Animal Crossing with a friend and when I switched the game on it started from the beginning.
I have been able to continue all of my other games from the last save point but not Animal Crossing - I'm gutted as I have lost nearly 300 hours of gametime and I'm not interested in starting from scratch. I really don't want to grind through the boring stuff until the singing dog comes back and I can start customising my island.
I have also factory reset and sold my Lite after the system transfer had completed.
I did open a support ticket with Nintendo but have oy received an automated reply so far.
I don't think there's anything you can do, I'm afraid. :/
Animal Crossing has it's own save data backup that you must activate on the title screen of the game.
@NorseGamerTommy thank you.
I don't think I backed it up as I'm used to it being done automatically so rarely manually back up game saves to the cloud.
Been a PlayStation and Xbox gamer last few years and have only recently come back to Nintendo.

Two fold issue or just one here.
First you should've verified that your OLED ACNH worked before resetting the Lite unless you did a trade-in which then means "0" actions can be done here. And second it's now in Nintendo Support issue and you also need to contact the Game maker as well for support on this issue. But a corrupted game is pretty much gone at this point.
