I really like seeing how many hours I have spent playing a game. It looks like you having something like that when you look at a persons profile. It will say things like first played nine days ago or 40 hours or more played but their is a disclaimer it will only record information for 20 games I believe. I would like there to be a permanent page for exactly how many hours played. I don't think this would be to hard to implement considering some of the work is done. Thanks for reading my suggestions

Yeah I was pretty surprised I couldn't find out how many hours I sunk into BOTW and other games. I know I can see it now for BOTW thanks to the heroes path thing but I liked that log system the Wii U had.

Some of Mario Odyssey is seriously giving heart palpitations.... that plumber is trying to kill me!

Wazeddie22

Wait what?I don't own a switch yet as I am still awaiting for mine from Amazon but I assumed or was hoping it would have an activity log like the 3ds which I love. For some reason I'm pretty obsessed with knowing how much spend on a game that any PS4 games I do I always record every session lol
Does the Switch not have an exact time of play or is it only roughly how long you have been playing a game?

It does have an Activity Log. Check your profile.

I have 235 hrs in Zelda Breath of the Wild.
45 hrs in Splatoon 2
10 hrs in Arms
10 hrs in Ultra Street Fighter II

And a variety of less time spent in a few dozen other games.

edit
And it does record for all games, after a period of 7 days it will change from "just played X days ago" to the time spent in the game. And while it only shows the 20 most recent games you've played, it has data stored for every game you've played. Simply launch a game and it will put it in the top of your list with hrs spent.

@JaxonH ahh thanks for the reply, that's great to know.Personally I think all consoles should have this feature now. There are obviously a heap of people interested in time spent on games.
But 235 hours on Zelda BOTW?? Man,I'm only coming up to 100 hours on Persona 5 and besides Skyrim (which was 104 hours) that is the longest I have spent on a game lol so choosing Zelda besides Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 2 to play when my Switch arrives I take it is a good thing then

Ya, and I haven't even 100% it. Still 6 shrines I never found and about 700 korok seeds still out there. It's a fantastic game.

I do typically sink 600 hrs into Monster Hunter and Xenoblade though. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was 600, MH4U was 400, and MH Gen was 400, and the only reason I played those two less was because they were on the 3DS. When Monster Hunter XX releases August 25th, I have enough yen on my JP eShop account to buy day one digitally until my import copy arrives. I know for a fact I'll surpass 600 hours in that game.

And Xenoblade Chronicles 2... ya. That's gonna be another one. And Skyrim will likely be 100+ and Fire Emblem Switch (not Warriors, but the real FE) will be 100+ as well as Pokémon Switch. And Dragon Quest XI and Shin Megami Tensei V, whenever they arrive. And obviously Metroid Prime 4 will be another 100 hr game, I'm sure.

Splatoon 2 will likely surpass 100 hrs as well, in time.

I've got a lot of spare time during the day to play as I work from home so the hours logged on my Switch is crazy. I can only imagine what it must look like to others, not that I really care anyway haha. I have got a life though, honest.

@JaxonH Ok I had to laugh when you mentioned you ONLY spent 400 hours on the MH games cuz they were for the 3ds...only?Only??the most I spent on the 3ds was on Fantasy Life and that was 62 hours and I thought that was a lot!Seriously how do you find the time to put so many hours in?or is it part of your work?I don't really get much gaming time which is one of the reasons I have such a huge backlog and even on holidays I never feel like I've gotten anywhere lol
Zelda sounds awesome though,I'm really looking forward to that!I have only ever tried a MH and that was a demo for the 3ds but couldn't really get into it despite wanting to..
Are the Xenoblade games proper open world?and do they have a decent story with any side quests?been wondering whether I should buy the 3ds game before the Switch Version turns up..

@Wazeddie22 You really don't want to know how many hours I put into the original Splatoon. OK I'll confess, just over 1000 hours. It is my most played game ever, MK Wii is second with 700 hours. Not sure after that, possibly Dr Mario Wii online. I played that game a crazy amount of times over 2 years.

I've spent well over 1500 hours on New Leaf. Beat that.

On topic, the Switch's play time display really is a step back from the detailed activity logs on previous systems. It doesn't show exact play time, dates played, average play time, anything like that. Although, the average play time stat kinda induced obsessive behaviour in me, so I'm better off without that one. And it is nice that you can have your games and play time on your profile for people to see (as lacking as Switch profiles otherwise are).

@OorWullie What is it with all these people being able to put so many hours into one game or games in general??1000 hours??don't think I've put that many hours into my PS4 in the 3 years I've had it!lol Still, that gives me hope that I will enjoy Splatoon 2 when I get my Switch:)
MK for the Wii was my most played game for the system too by a country mile but 700hours worth?..um..no.lol

@Wazeddie22 Online play. MK Wii was the first game I ever owned that had proper online.Well I had Chu Chu Rocket on the Dreamcast but that doesn't count. I used to work nightshifts and backshifts in a foreign country during the Wii glory years so 700 hours was easily achieved. Splatoon however was just the most addictive game I've ever played. I was hooked big time. Again, since I work from home I have loads of time to play. The Wii U wasn't really blessed with loads of other games to take up my time either.

@Zyrac I don't think I'll ever be able to beat anyone's play time on here lol
That's a real shame for the system to take a step back rather than forward. The Activity Log on the handhelds are such a cool feature.
But like I mentioned elsewhere I suffer from obsessive behaviour myself..to prove myself, every game that doesant show the play time I put my stop watch on and record every play session lol I don't even know why I even do it.

@OorWullie ahh working from home explains a lot.By the time I get home I have may be an hour or two before dinner then an hour maybe more after.Weekends obviously more if I'm lucky.
Yeah Mario Kart was the first proper online game I played too and was hooked...in my opinion no other racing game will ever come close.

@Wazeddie22
Ya, online play. Monster Hunter is best enjoyed hunting with friends on the site. Typically 25% of time spent solo (100-150) and the rest online with others (300-450). When specific games release I love, I binge. Like 30-45 min at work, then 5 hrs after work every day. And 15 hrs on weekends off. So 150 hrs a month, and I'll play for months.

But I only do that with select games. Splatoon 2 gets played for 4 or 5 hrs after work, but not every day.

And yes, Xenoblade is one of the greatest games I've ever played. Yes it's open world, and the only game I've ever played with a world that outclassed Zelda Breath of the Wild. Amazing, crazy awesome story, and sidequests galore. Dude, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a must- I doubt we'll be seeing a better JRPG on the Switch this generation.

Wazeddie22

@JaxonH ahh I better understand how you get so much gaming time now, difference is with me I can't binge no matter what game anyway.I can play for a few hours but then even if I change games I have to get up and do something else. Can't stay still for too long.
Xenoblade sounds awesome then, everything I like in a rpg. Will most probably pick it up at some point then.Cheers

135hours+ - Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
110hours+ - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
...and a bit of time playing Overcooked! Special Edition (≈3hours), the Splatoon 2 demo's (≈3hours combined), Death Squared (≈1hour), the ARMS Testpunch (≈1hour) and some of the other Switch demo's (<1hour combined)

Hoping to get Splatoon 2 in the next week or so - should easily be another 100hours+ game - especially because the flexibility of the Switch allows for it like no other system! You can play for 15mins over breakfast, 10mins over coffee, 20mins at lunch - it all adds up...and (strangely) it feels like you have more time to do other stuff too! I love the way the Switch just fits around your life - and look forward to many, many, many more hours of playtime in the years to come!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 80 hours

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 75 hours

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers - 65 hours

ARMS and Splatoon 2 - 20 hours

A few others at 10 or under.

I don't have as much time to game as I'd like so for me this is quite a bit of use the Switch has received. I really enjoy the system. Pretty sure I've sunk quite a bit more hours into it than I did the PS4, Xbox One or Wii U in similar time frames (about 5 months) when I first bought them.

I had thought the parental controls app was the place to monitor playtime. Is this info hidden on the profile page? Wondering why I have not seen it.

Ok, I see. You guys are just talking about where it shows for me how long ago you played or shows played for a little while. I see now that this is estimating in hours how long played. This is hardly a proper activity log though.
