Right. And not just 20% off, but select games also get $10 back in reward points for preordering, like Super Mario Odyssey, NBA 2k18 and FIFA 18. Which effectively makes it like $37.99 day one. And if you sign up for their CC, that's another 5% back.

I'm getting L.A. Noire for $37.99 day one (20% off + 5% back with CC)

Yea i saw that on the website about the extra $10.. i need to go to the store and pre order mario though i think because when i was clicking through online to sign up it wasn't showing anything about the $10... but damn this is a hell of a deal, there must not be many people who know about it cuz this would put gamestop out of business.

IGN Review for L.A. Noire, which is likely the exact version we're getting on Switch so this review should be dead on, aside from the added perk of playing in handheld mode and tabletop.

The Switch version is a port of the PS3/360 version, whereas the PS4 and Xbox One versions are remastered.

@Octane
Exactly. That's exactly what I said and exactly why linked the PS3 and 360 review

@JaxonH Oh lol, I thought it was the remastered version...

I haven’t seen anywhere say it’s a port of the last gen version, pure speculation.

@Nintendoforlife
Just read the description of the games. Switch version is a straight port with added functionality like HD Rumble, touch support and native portability. Other versions are remastered with 4k output but no added functionality.

This is not what you call "hearsay". This is what you call "straight from the horse's mouth"

L.A. Noire for the Nintendo Switch features the complete original game and all additional downloadable content, with specific enhancements including a Joy-Con mode with gyroscopic, gesture-based controls, HD rumble and new wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles, plus contextual touch screen controls for portable detective work.

L.A. Noire for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One delivers the complete original game and all additional downloadable content with a range of technical enhancements for greater visual fidelity and authenticity, including enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles, high resolution textures and more. Plays natively in 1080p for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, and stunning 4K for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, these versions capture the grit and grime of the City of Angels like never before.

I'm surprised there still isn't any trailers for either version of the game considering it isn't too far away from releasing and Take 2 don't really have anything else coming out this year aside from sports titles.

@JaxonH didn't it come out recently native 1080p for switch when docked. I mean it's going to be more than just here I the 360 version with hd rumble and camera mode. But I forgot Rockstar isn't doing the port so I don't expect much for the people porting.

The games also reuse the same classification of the original release, indicating that there is no new content that would require reclassification (at least in terms of story/context etc.). And that's better for Rockstar from a business perspective, because the Australian rating would now get bumped up from an MA15+ to R18+ due to the stricter guidelines that were introduced alongside the R18+ rating which took effect from January 2013 (which prohibits so much as any implication or allusion to "sexual violence", which can be interpreted very vaguely by the board).

I'm not interested in this game, but if I was, I would buy the PS4 version over the Switch one. Portability isn't a draw for me, considering I haven't taken my Switch out of its dock in like a month, and I don't really care about little gimmicky stuff like HD rumble support. While the graphics and facial animations are good for their time, the game is showing its age, and the characters kinda look like they're made of clay or something. A new coat of paint would do it well.

I don't have a Xbox One S or PS4 Pro so I wouldn't get any advantage from a 4K bump. I would buy the Switch version for the added motion controls and portable play though.

This is where the Switch versions win for me, portability, being able to take it out and about with me and take it on business trips for when im stuck in the hotel on evenings.

Nice to just sit back and relax, better than having to think whether or not I can take my PS4 with me lol

I do have a PS4 Pro and soon enough, an Xbox One X. And even then I would never value resolution over getting two versions in one. 4K is nice but the buzzword sounds better than what it really is. I watch my 4K TV every single day and when I turn my Switch on with the 720p menu it looks 95% as good.

And having better rumble is never a gimmick. Rumble is a staple of all video games and part of the experience. Having better rumble with variable output and a sliding scale of intensity is the exact opposite of a gimmick- that's just straight up improvement. No it's not going to sell me on that version of the game but it's certainly not a gimmick. Just like 4K- it's not going to sell me on that version of the game but it's no gimmick- it's an improvement over 1080p. So either all rumble is a gimmick or none of it is. Either resolution as a whole is a gimmick or none of it is.

So tired of that word being abused. Just because you don't like something or don't find value in something doesn't make it a gimmick. It simply makes it something you're not interested in. And for the record, HD rumble is only truly experienced with Split Joycons. Using a Pro Controller, or using it in handheld mode, or joycons in a grip... it just isn't the same. It's better, but having the rumble split apart does wonders for vibrations that pan left-right-left-right. It's like having stereo sound versus mono.

@Qwertyninty
I haven't heard anything. All we know is what they told us in the official descriptions and that doesn't really say anything.

@JaxonH yep! Everyone seems to have forgot this was announced. They so bad just want this to be a straight 360 port on Switch.

JaxonH

@Qwertyninty

Well I certainly didn't want it to be a straight port. I'm a Switch owner buying the game- obviously I want it to be as good as possible. It's just that I hadn't heard anything to the contrary.

But... now I have.

@JaxonH I get that the switch isn't as powerful as xb1 and ps4 bit it's just as modern. The switch is more powerful than last gen consoles in handheld mode. For a developer to port something from last gen and keep it the same visually would tell you how lazy they really are.
