Topic: I've stopped paying for the NSO

Considering 'Fortnite' and 'Rocket League' don't need it to play online, why pay for it?

So I can play S/NES/MD Games I can play elsewhere?

@Cyclist NSO is also the cloud save system, to back up save data. Although, I'm not sure I've ever needed that.

I only got NSO for online access for Mario Kart, Splatoon, Crash Team Racing. I got retro gaming out of my system circa 2014, so I haven't used NSO for the retro games. (I've purpsely not touched NSO retro games, because I don't want a Nintendo metric to label me as using NSO for the retro games.)

I also play Rocket League on the Switch. Got it when it was a pay game. But yeah, it's free to play now, so doesn't need NSO (as you know). Fall Guys is the only other free to play game I've briefly touched.

There's more then just as mentioned. Here's what NA NSO says about NSO subscriptions.

You can get the latest info on Nintendo Switch Online, complete member-exclusive missions, and redeem Nintendoâ„¢ Platinum Points6 for icon elements, right from the Nintendo Switch HOME menu!

There's probably more but you should contact your Nintendo Support to ask what NSO really entails as NSO is something Nintendo Support can better respond to.

*What does Nintendo online membership do?
A Nintendo Switch Online subscription gives you access to several NES titles, including The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros., and Donkey Kong. So unless you have the physical consoles and cart for those games your homebrewing or pirated ROMs and that is a dis-servce to those whom created the Nintendo Game whom one takes money away from.

@SwitchForce I have a S/NES/MD Mini Console as well as the MD Collection on Switch as well as many GBA Games, some of which are ports of SNES Games.

I like what you did there and I stopped using the S/NES Online for the same reason.

I'm kinda glad the NSO exists tbh since one of the SMT games I like is available there (the very first SMT). It has its uses for the more niched retro games that were never remastered.

Mehmeh... I only use it for cloud saves and the recently added XC3 profile icon rewards.

Oh, were you asking if NSO retro games are available elsewhere for the Switch? In general, no, they aren't available for purchase. (there may be a game or two that are exceptions, but I don't know the library well enough to cite any.) For the Switch generation, Virtual Console has been replaced with NSO's subscription-only access to Nintendo's retro library.

That's good then I bought some of those like that cart for Switch as well since I don't own those older Nintendo consoles. 3DS games I still have like the 14 released New 3DS XL units hanging around along with 200 games for the 3DS and some 2DS.
