I have an 11 year old and a 20 month old and I’m concerned one of them will damage the switch my oldest is getting for Christmas.

Is there a case that allows you to play while docked without the hassle of constantly taking the case on and off?

I think I’ve seen a few that will let it be charged in the dock but they don’t specify if you can play while docked.

Several manufacturers make cases that are thin enough to fit in the dock, you just need to search for a "dockable" case.

They won't damage your switch.

I’ve seen a few that say you can charge the switch with the case while docked( on amazon ) but none that say you can play with the case while docked.

Also seen mentioned a cable can be used as a workaround but there is a risk of bricking the switch.

If it's thin enough to fit in the dock, then it's thin enough to not be a problem.

At that point it's just a really thin sheet of plastic, not exactly protective or insulated.

Try this GripCase....

https://www.amazon.com/Skull-Co-GripCase-Set-Comfortable-Repl...

I supported this on KS and it will fit into the dock without problems. Just make sure to lineup when you Dock and you should be fine. I've played with the GripCase Docked.

I personally have a generic one that is just a transparent shell for the main unit alone. I can then remove the joycons or use different accessories without taking out the entire case.
