Topic: I'm really worried about Nintendo's games' general reputation...

So this is the thing: for whatever reason, Nintendo's games are becoming the punching bags of the gaming community lately, they get a lot of unfair hate for the wrong reasons, and the worst of all, if you tell openly that you like them, you're seen like a scum (and I can tell that as I've been targeted by many people like that on the internet, for the sole reason of liking Nintendo games)...

This is making me extremely concerned about the games' general reputation (other than my mental sanity). I have many of their games at heart, and the thinking of them being destroyed only because some online trolls... is really discouraging me... Has anyone experienced the same? Do you think this hate is unjustified?

Nintendo's games are not the punching bag of the community lately lol

Tears of the Kingdom just sold a bazillion copies in 1 day, 10/10 reviews everywhere, tons of people streaming and making videos, tons of people playing it, I saw people lined up outside of a store for a midnight release for the first time in like a decade

what game in particular are you talking about because everyone loves nintendo right now

Every game that's popular gets its share of detractors and review bombing.

Nintendo published games aren't targeted any more or less.

@Torchwick64 Do you know these people personally? And if so, do you care about them?

I'm guessing the answers are "no", and "no" .

It's just games, find a place (like here) and enjoy what you're passionate about. It's not too serious

Don’t worry be happy

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

Why are you worried? If you enjoy the game, dont listen to others, just have fun

"punching bag"? You're putting too much worry into what people say on the internet. The switch sold well. Some of nintendo's titles have sold very well - even when compred to competitors.

The internet is a dumpster of hate and bots. If you're looking for validation that anything is the greatest on the internet, even if something is objectively well received, you're always going to find an endless supply of hate on the internet.

@WoomyNNYes Like, seriously: all I do several times is just praising some Nintendo games... WITHOUT fanboying them. And then I always end up being accused of being a troll or a bad person (no joking it happened me a lot of times, that's why I made this topic in the first place). Perhaps I've just been in the wrong places, but every gaming community I've been was like that. Every. Single. One.... it seems like if for the modern average gamers, Nintendo games are a taboo, and shouldn't even exist...

All the corporations are attempting to get your money.

Anyone who plants their flag solely with either Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox, PC, or mobile...is a fool.

@Torchwick64 I honestly consider the situation nowadays with Nintendo games much better than years ago. Like, go back to the years 2011 until like 2016. That period of late Wii era and Wii U era in it's entirely was bad for Nintendo games reputation.
The late Wii era solified Nintendo firmly in the casual audience, which meant a lot of sideeyes from "core" gaming fans and the Wii U era combined that with the faliure of the Wii U to sell, which also meant a lot of "Nintendo should go third party" arguments.

It didn't help if you look at a lot of Nintendo games published/developed arround that time. Nintendo never even tried making a game half as big as BoTW and quite a bit of their franchises felt "small".
Not saying those were bad games but I can't imagine Nintendo in 2012 releasing a game like BoTW, even if they had the hardware. Like, think about it, Skyward Sword came out the same year as Skyrim. And in the Wii U they had plenty of buttons and joysticks to make a game like Mario Odyssey but they decided to make 3D World. 3D World is not a bad game by ANY means but it felt "small" in the grand scheme of things. Even nowadays, Mario Wonder feels somehow bigger despite being 2D.

@Magician I do have good reasons to rely solely on Nintendo (console wise, I also use Steam for the Indies and some rare third parties): excluding some Indie Developers, they're the ONLY ones who can still make games I CAN appreciate. There are very few Microsoft games I like (all played on Steam), most of the Third Party games are bland or just not for me, I have a REALLY bad relationship with Sony's modern games. I tried to make myself liking those games several times, but it's not use, I just turn them off after a few minutes... some even seconds after a big NOPE. So yeah, I have my good reason to rely almost solely on Nintendo, and I have the right to be upset when I see the games I have to heart the most being DESTROYED by online trolls...

@Torchwick64
My two cents for you.

Play your Nintendo games and IGNORE all the haters / the trolls said.

They can talk to the wall and you keep playing your Nintendo games happily.
Pretend they don't exist.

Feels like you take the hobby too seriously.

The corporations don't care about you, so why become so devoted to them?

Oh, wait...
I felt deja vu after reading this thread for ranting about being hated because of liking Nintendo games.
I have ever seen user like this before.
Hm.... 🤔

@Magician Did I ever said I'm devoted to Nintendo? No. I only said I have their GAMES at heart, and it's because of what people do to THEM that makes me so upset. Do you have the slightest idea of how painful it is to see something you have much at heart being destroyed for the mere purpouse of feeling superior to the others every single day? Or to be considered a bad person for the sole reason of liking it? Because this is what I've been throught for years, and it's starting to making me seriously discouraged...

You're overly concerned.

Feels like energy wasted.
