I just bought Nintendo Switch Lite (Hyrule Edition) just to explore current Nintendo ecosystem, and I'm real new with this console. I was reading gaming news, following the releases, but didn't have a chance to play them.
Since I have 12-month NSO, thanks to the deal with the console, I'm diving retro games I played in my childhood. However, now I'm also planning to play new games, too. I already wishlisted Zelda: BOTW, Animal Crossing, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Super Mario Odyssey... I loved the demos of Kirby, Donkey Kong and Pokemon, and I also enjoyed Mario Strikers Battle League Football.
I'm also playing PC games, mostly role-playing and strategy and adventures and I was trying to create a wishlist according to my PC gaming behaviour, which makes things difficult.
I really want to start with BOTW and then Animal Crossing. But what's your suggestions? It would be amazing for me to hear from you.
I would strongly recommend Echoes Of Wisdom if you're a fan of either A Link To The Past or Link's Awakening. Mario Odyssey is definitely worth playing, I would also recommend Super Mario Maker 2. Starlink Battle For Atlus is an interesting concept if you're want something to mess around with. The Mario + Rabbids games are pretty decent too.
In my opinion...Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Odyssey, the Xenoblade series, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Bayonetta 2 (I haven't played 3 yet) are the best exclusives and are the reason to own a Switch.
After that you could build a list of several hundred games rating 8/10 or higher.
I recommend Golf Story, it's a Switch exclusive indie game that released early in the system's life cycle. Super charming and funny. It's like a sports rpg.
Both Zelda BOTW and Animal Crossing are great games, for completely different reasons.
If you like Zelda, I would definitely recommend BOTW to play first, just because it is a huge open world experience that will give you hours of gameplay. If you are looking for something more casual, and just to pick up for small bursts of time to play every day, Animal Crossing might be more for you. Either way, your not going to be disappointed with what you pick of the two.
If I could suggest a game, it would definitely be Super Mario Odyssey. The game has a lot of great level designs, fun to use Cappy to transform into classic enemies, lots of classic references to old Mario games, and you can sink a lot of time into trying to get everything in this game.
I think Tropical freeze is better than returns Hd. Same game, same price, slightly improved. Plus, since it came out a while ago, there’s also the occasional sale compared to returns hd.

I saw Echoes of Wisdom, and it kinda looks very good. I know Tunic on PC and thought that I could play it on Nintendo Switch Lite, too, but Echoes of Wisdom could be a good choice with Tunic. Currently, I'm playing The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, and it looks like Echoes of Wisdom.

You know what, I never thought that I could check critic websites for games when I opened this topic, and you saved my time, too. I definitely want to play Super Mario Odyssey and Luigi’s Mansion 3 besides BOTW and Animal Crossing. However, am I missing something by not playing the first two games, or can I start with the third one?

I never heard of Golf Story, but can check it out. Thanks!

It is nice to see people recommending BOTW and Animal Crossing. I'm currently playing classic Zelda games with NSO and having a good time, especially with The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. I guess Super Mario Odyssey is everyone's favorite, and I'm hoping it will be my favorite, too.

Yes, Tropical Freeze looks fun, then I can play this one first. I was having a good time with Returns HD.
Switch has amazing games in basically every genre, so it depends on what you like. If you want a modern take on 2D Mario, Mario Wonder is a fun time.
From your current wishlist, I would highlight Kirby and the Forgotten Land; absolutely charming game.
I experienced classic Kirby games before with my old-school consoles, but with this Kirby and the Forgotten Land, I lost myself in the game, in a good way. It's like a secret happiness source.
By the way, how about Metroid games? Which one should I start with? Maybe Metroid Dread? I'm playing Metroid games on NSO, by the way.
If you're playing Metroid on NSO, I highly recommend Zero Mission.
And of course, Super Metroid.
I tried Super Metroid yesterday and had a good time with the level design, which made me anxious. Although it was a good experience, and also realized how easy to play this genre nowadays.
@denixius JSYK, I though you were talking about games you didn’t have. Tropical freeze is a slightly better value than returns HD, especially when you can get returns on 2 different successful consoles.

Yes, I already wishlisted Tropical Freeze. I will try that one first amongst Donkey Kong titles.
@denixius Oh! I forgot there was a demo for DKCRHD! Sorry, I thought you had already bought the game.

No, I haven't bought any games yet. I want to explore first, but I now have plans thanks to all of you, for which games should I play first. I guess I will go with Zelda: BOTW, Animal Crossing and Super Mario Odyssey at first. Then I can get back to make a good collection.
Hi there!
From your list, I would say Pokemon: Let's Go and Kirby Forgotten Land would be my personal picks. Both so charming and fun to play.
I might also add in, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong and Princess Peach Showtime! Both have demos on the e-shop you can give a whirl to.
I have had real fun playing their demo, and they will be my next target. The levels look fantastic in Mario vs. Donkey Kong, and I don't know why, but reminds me of Yoshi's Story.
And I'm assuming Princess Peach: Showtime! is also fun because it lets you play in lots of different ways. I will try its demo. Thanks!
