Topic: "I would buy a Nintendo Switch solely for THESE non-Nintendo games"

I'm just curious...

Us Nintendo fans have a reputation of buying our consoles solely for Nintendo's first party output. This is a fair assertion when it comes to most people. Zelda alone gets me to buy the new Nintendo console every single generation even if no other game had yet. 3D Mario and Smash Bros also top the list of games that still do this for me. Mario Kart was on this list through the Wii entry but it's luster has strangely faded away for me. I say strangely because I recognize MK8 as one of the best games the series has ever put out, but for some reason it was only fun for about a week and I am just starting to get a "samey" feeling from Kart nowadays. It would have to do something very new and exciting to drag me back in.

Anyways, these are all first party titles. As you can tell by the thread title, I'm wondering what single 2nd or 3rd party games would cause you to buy NX. If there is no single game, which 2, or which 3? If we want 3rd parties releasing games on our console, we have to be willing to buy those games!

Your game list can be announced titles or just series that you hope are getting an entry next gen. Just have fun with it. Here's mine:

Suikoden 6- I love everything about this series. It manages to hit me with a rush of nostalgia while providing an experience that also feels cutting edge and exciting at the same time. Building a huge army, finding and maintaining your very own castle/headquarters, tons of optional characters and secrets, and an engaging and innovative storyline that eschews the typical "band of warriors saving the world" tropes for character-driven "2 kingdoms at war" epics. Absolutely awesome JRPG series, matched only by...

Final Fantasy 15 (or 7 remake)- Something feels very right and "coming full circle" about the idea that Nintendo could return to dominance of the video game market by getting the FF7 remake and going back to carts over CD's. For all you kids out there, the beginning of Nintendo's decline to it's current state (saleswise) starts in the late 90's when Square left them for Sony because Ninty chose to stick with carts instead of going CD. It would be totally cool, and a sign from above in my opinion, if things came full circle and we got the FF7 Remake cart helping push Nintendo back to the top of the mountain it's ancestor helped knock them from!

2d or 3d Megaman- Imagine if Megaman's return was an NX exclusive??? It'd set the games industry on fire. It could be, preferably, Legends 3, or a retro-style 2d platformer. While either would be awesome, Nintendo really should be moving away from 2d platformers for the time being, I feel. Let us miss them again, then bring them back after you've brought out the big 3d guns.

Those are my 3 biggies. What are your games that would single handedly (or a combo of 2 or 3) push you over the hump and get you to go out and buy Nintendo's new console?

I want to start this out by saying I don't have any of the current gen home consoles (I don't have a lot of money right now, so I'm just slowly building up my 7th gen library with a new game every other month or so). Anyhow, my first choice for a new console would be PS4 right now, but if NX were to get these, that may change...

Kingdom Hearts III - I've been with the series since it began, and (barring some of the remakes) I've played every game in the series other than Birth by Sleep since I didn't have a PSP (with this I caved in and watched a YouTube playthrough). Considering that, I have to see how things conclude.

Tales of - I've only played two games in the series (Abyss & Vesperia, the latter of which I just unlocked the final dungeon), but it's quickly become my favorite JRPG series. I like that they have the scale of something like Final Fantasy & Dragon Quest, but opt for an action battle system (I don't mind turn based combat, I just prefer real time), & you become attached to the casts much more due to the plentiful skits.

Red Dead Redemption spiritual successor - RDR was the game that sold me on the big budget western AAA open world genre, and I'd like to see sort of a spiritual successor where you're a ronin during the Bakumatsu/Meiji Era of Japanese history, trying to make his way in a world that's quickly modernizing & needs you less & less by the day (which would parallel RDR's story of an old west outlaw trying to live in a quickly modernizing, more domesticated, frontier).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Sure, here's my 3 games and based on the assumption the NX is a home console:

F-Zero - This franchise has been on hiatus for so long and if it returned I'd want a brand new game which uses the style of F-Zero GX while presenting key new features such as 30 player online. The difficulty would be comparable to GX where on the harder difficulties it's so difficult you'll want to throw your controller at a wall.

2D or 3D Metroid - Yes, I'm talking proper Metroid along the lines of the main games before Other M. Either a new prime game or a 2D game but the key things being exploration and not staying to a linear path. I loved how in Prime 1 and 2 you could actually get some of the key items for the endgame (artifacts/sky temple keys) quite early in the game just by thoroughly exploring the surroundings before going to your main objective.

Fire Emblem - I loved Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn but was very sad when Nintendo decided to devote the series to handhelds with the release of Awakening, Fates and the recently announced mobile game. I'd want it to be in the style of either the Radiance games or the GBA games though that's mainly because Fates hasn't been released yet (2 weeks remaining!) so I don't have much to base that game on.

I don't see Nintendo caring enough to release any of these 3 though!

@Grumblevolcano: non-Nintendo games

I don't have any specific games and strangely enough, I'm not really interested in most of the third party offerings at the moment; not on Wii U and not on PS4. Maybe a solid bunch of good quality indie games that are exclusive?

Beyond Good and Evil 2, Shenmue 3, new Platinum Games stuff, Resident Evil both new and remakes (but not spin off unless they are like Revelations, not Umbrella Corps), Borderlands, WWE, Psychonauts 2 and WB's DC superhero games like Batman and Injustice would help me get an NX.

There's also pie in the sky stuff like new Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and Sunset Overdrive too.

@Octane: Oops.

In that case nothing because I already have an Xbox One. That is my Microsoft + 3rd party console.

If it gets some third party support that'll be great and I might even end up getting the NX versions of those games. But I expect that the vast, vast majority of interesting exclusives would be "Nintendo games". So no, I don't think I'd buy an NX just for any non-Nintendo title.

If NX had these day 1, I would probably be willing to spend $1000 day 1 to get the games, system, and accessories. but I will mainly buy a NX for Nintendo games, so these won't really make a difference lol

A remake or proper sequel to Crystal Chronicles (Gamecube) would instantly make me pre order an NX.

Meh.... Not a lot of stuff from third parties catch my interest anymore. But the games that would catch my interrest are

Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy XV
MGSV

Also, whatever Platinum Games publishes.

@DefHalan
Isn't Halo a Microsoft exclusive, though? Even if the NX could run it, I don't see Microsoft publishing it for a rival company's console...

I plan on getting an NX at some point, but if it launched with PES (heck, now that female players are in I'd even strongly consider FIFA) I'd probably get it day one-ish. The last 3DS entry was surprisingly solid, and I'm not buying a PS4 to play one game (especially since I don't buy versions annually).

Anyway, there are lots of third parties I like, but that's the only one I think would get me to buy in right away. Even Shenmue III, for as long as it's been in development hell, would give me pause.

@Luna_110: I know. It is still a Non-Nintendo game that I would buy a NX for if it came to the system lol. It is the biggest reason why I am debating upgrading my PC or buying a Xbox 1.

I hope NX gets the Monkey Ball and Katamari series (somehow!). Oh, wait! My taste in games obviously doesn't have enough guns and violence sooooo....ummm....Battlefield 2 remastered please (the best war type shooty game thing ever!)

Okay... how to first explain myself? Well, I don't usually buy Nintendo systems due to any announced games, but due to appreciating Nintendo's overall 1st and 2nd party output. I like the Kirby series for instance, but I've usually purchased a Nintendo system prior to one being available or announced at the time. I buy the system due to an appreciation of the system itself, and the expectation of future titles that I will enjoy.

Something that will also be quite humorous, is at the time of wanting the Wii and 3DS; my most desired announced titles were all 3rd party. Of the Wii's intial line-up, Red Steel was the game that interested me the most. For the 3DS, it was Dead or Alive: Dimensions. As for the Wii U, the title that I wanted to play at launch was Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, and whilst I do not know whether it comes under 2nd or 3rd party, but Wonderful 101 was the game that made me want a Wii U most of all.

Anyway, my point with all this is that it is not a specific title that leads me to purchase a Nintendo system, rather it is the whole gallery. Be it 1st, 2nd, or 3rd party, I've usually been guaranteed a good time when purchasing a Nintendo system. Now when it comes to the NX, my decision to purchase it will depend on what it is, because we still don't know at this point. There are certain things that will turn me off the system, and certain things that will cause me to wait a while before I purchase it. The specific game line-up will not be what affects my NX purchasing decision.

That said, I would like to see both the Dead or Alive and BlazBlue series available on the NX. A new Sega All Stars Racing game would also be pleasing. I don't really pursue many 3rd party series, so aside from those, it'd mostly be specific 3rd instalments that just happen to grab my interest. I would love for the NX to have a quality array of exclusive 3rd party titles like the Wii had; with great games like Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Red Steel, or Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
