@Tasuki I must be nieve because i wouldn't have thought any company would expect its customers to buy the exact same digital product over and over again. That's really poor customer service this day and age.
Although I wouldn't have thought that customers would defend this sort of practice either and yet here you guys are actively defending getting ripped off.
All my games from Nintendo, PlayStation and XBOX machines are All physical.
And i have a lot of consoles and handhelds in my collection.
Nintendo
GBA
NDS
3DS
Gamecube
Wii
Wii U
Switch
PlayStation
PS1
PS2
PS3
PS4
PSP
XBOX
OG XBOX
XBOX 360
And i can always able to play older games with actual games and actual machines.
I don't even need looking for older games from Online Service.
Their games library are limited, not included with niche games i like to play.
And Goodness knows
The wicked's lives are lonely
Goodness knows
The wicked die alone...
I have been quite shocked though as there's quite a bit of hostility on this site. I thought the Destiny community was toxic but they are nothing compared with Nintendo gamers lol.
@Anti-Matter I've gone fully digital, less clutter and I don't need to worry about storage.
This gen digital is also really useful as I can turn my Series X off downstairs and then carry on gaming on the upstairs TV using the Series S - I sometimes need to swap over the memory card of its a large Game as the storage on the S is pretty poor but it takes a second so not really an issue.
@RandomNPC to be fair, to some of the people here you could very well come off as a random troll coming with fake surprise and indignation just to stir something up.
To be clear, I’m not saying those are your intentions, but you know, people on the internet. Can you really blame them for being a little defensive?
@RandomNPC
I don't like going digital.
I'm thinking about long term satisfaction which i still able to play old games with actual machines and actual games.
I don't even like the convenience from being digital.
Also, i like to collect a lot of games from different machines.
And Goodness knows

@RandomNPC Unfortunately, that's how Nintendo is sadly. Love their games, even if they are anti-consumer with certain things. The thing with Switch Online's NES and SNES libraries is that games are dropped randomly, you don't have a regular release schedule with it. On top of that, it's $20/year, if you decide not to pay you lose access to those games. If Switch Online ever shuts down, you'll most likely lose those games.
This is why I wish I still had the option to buy classic games, not so much to buy games again, it has more to do with Switch Online having no way to actually have games forever, while older virtual console games stay downloaded unless you delete them. Honestly, I agree with you given how Nintendo's classics are on stuck on the Switch Online subscription.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@RandomNPC But uh, other then that, you will learn to Love em (Hate em), But don't think anyone else has said this but, welcome to the Switch family, Really looking forward to your opinion on There games.
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!
(My friend code is SW-7322-1645-6323, please ask me before you use it)
@Snatcher I've only played metroid on Switch so far, it was fun but really short. I'm on a bit of a Warframe binge at the moment, so I might download it on Switch once cross save arrives but I don't have the Stamina to start over from scratch.
I think I've been spoiled with Xbox as I pay monthly for gamepass so get all of the new releases and have a download library of about 300 games spanning from the original Xbox that I've picked up over the years.
@RandomNPC Trust me, going from ps4 service to Nintendo service, its just hard to get used to, So yes I too was 100% spoiled, But you will get used to it. But your totally still going to compare the two.
I hope you get many more games in the coming years.

If I really wanted to stir stuff up for a reaction I would go troll Reddit for a much bigger pay off, rather than take the time to write a post on a Nintendo forum lol.
@RandomNPC But they are not the same digital purchases. What you are buying is the ability to play the game on said console you got that, where is it stated that you should be able to play on the next console and the one after that?
If I purchase a 3DS game it worked on the 3DS, and that's what they gave me. The Switch is a different system a different eco system if you will. It's not a ripoff you didn't buy the 3DS game to play it on the Switch you bought it to play on the 3DS.

I'm sure that most of us would love it if Nintendo took the same attitude to backwards compatibility, digital purchases and subscription services that Microsoft currently do.
It's just that we're so used to them being in the digital stone age that it seems hopelessly unrealistic to expect them to change.
Until that improbable day comes, I guess your best bet is just to hang on to the old hardware.
@RandomNPC Well they are two different companies so it is kind of naïve to think that one company does something the same way another one does.
Exactly. I think they want older game support which isn't going to happen that cost money to maintain and with the amount of games coming out for NSW that makes one wonder why. Also if they most likely have the older 2DS/3DS consoles to play so why don't they just play on those. Porting games over in Nintendo consoles from different console isn't the same a just copy and paste even online requires reprograming to work with different buttons so it's not so simple as people says it is.

My 3DS died so I thought it made more sense to buy Nintendo's current gen handheld rather another 3DS and I wanted to play Metroid.
Also Nintendo has already ported the games I wanted to download across to the Switch, they are just trying to charge me again to play them.
This is what I find weird, Link to the past and Ocarina of Time are literally just roms that Nintendo has put up on its new console, it would have taken very littlework as they havntbeen upgraded in any way - what other reason do they have for paywalling these apart from greed? I already own the games, all they needed to do was transfer the license across.
@RandomNPC But the Switch isn't a handheld it's a hybrid consoles. It's as much part of the 3DS line ans it is the Wii line. It's a different line is what I am getting at. The license you paid for allowed you to play it on the 3DS which you did. Nowhere is it stated that they have to let you play it on other devices.
@Tasuki it's definitely a handheld with the usual Nintendo system gimmick being this one connects to the TV rather than have the dual screens.
If it is a home console/hybrid it makes less sense to me that you can't access your Wii game library on it - but then again Nintendo didn't know how to implement online accounts back then lockingdownload games to a console. It was the reason I moved across to Xbox after the Gamecube, I had just assumed they had come into the modern era instead of staying 3 gens behind the competition in terms of ease of use and software integration.
@RandomNPC And that's where end is the problem, you assumed. As I said just because one company does it doesn't mean all companies do things that way. It's not a cash grab as you called it. It's one thing to be upset at say Microsoft if the announced the next Xbox and said we no longer are having all Xbox games being able to play on this current system. Nintendo does their thing and Microsoft does theirs, there's no right nor wrong here. Next time do a little research.
Also on a parting note Nintendo first party games like Zelda BotW very rarely go down in prince you might luck out and find a used copy cheaper but don't count on it.
