So I've been playing Hello Neighbor with my 10 year old today and we have gotten to act 3 but now we have a problem. We picked up the red ring after bursting it off the pipe on the side of the house and it shows in our inventory but we can't select it. We can only pick up 3 other things so it's there and taking a space but when we select it nothing happens. Is this an issue? Do we really need the red ring or can we cope without it? Any ideas on how we can fix the glitch without restarting the game? Any info or ideas appreciated!

@Lolly I would look up a youtube walkthrough of the game. See what they do at that point in the game. Maybe the game is working normally, even if it's not intuitive. There have been occasions in games where I thought something was a glitch, but it turned out I was missing a step, or misunderstood a situation that was was not user-friendly.

If it's a corrupted save file issue, starting the game over might be your only option. That sort of thing can happen, unfortunately. Turning off a game while it's saving progress can corrupt a save file, no matter how well made the game is. I'm not saying that's happened, but that's a way it can happen. Sometimes you can't explain it.

@Lolly Did you ever figure it out? It hit me this morning, if something is grayed out in your inventory, or a menu, it likely means you're currently using something else in your inventory, and you can't access it until you discard/put away something else, or it's mission related, something like that.

@WoomyNNYes yes I did thanks. I got annoyed and switched it off lol. When I came back to it I tried loading it from the nearest autosave point and that seemed to do the trick. It was no longer in the inventory, or anywhere else for that matter. We made it through the rest of act 3 without needing the item so that wasn't an issue thankfully.
Just glad it resolved itself. My little one was not amused at the thought of having to restart the whole thing again 🤣
It was definitely a glitch of some sort as even after putting everything else down it still couldn't be selected. Its a cool game and my daughter is really enjoying it (with my help on the tricky bits 😉) but it is a very glitchy game I have noticed.
