And just as a side note: I found the "true ending" pretty unsatisfying.

I just found out that the Pact of Punishment makes collecting rare items much easier, which was extremely tedious before. So I'll give the game a few more runs. I guess fighting the final boss 15 times in a row without beating him frustrated me. Let's see if I can the enjoy the game again.

@BenAV
Wow, 75 hours! And you beat it on your 10th run? I suck lol

@rallydefault My first win was just a fluke thanks to having HP regen. Took like 12 runs to win again after that and that's when it all clicked and I started winning consistently. Biggest hurdle for me was getting through the third boss fight in good shape.

Yea, I'm currently a bit stuck on the third boss. I've only gotten the HP regen a couple times. It's definitely my top pick, at least for now. I've tried about five of the weapons so far. The sword and the shied are my two favorites. I thought I liked the spear at first, but as I got to the third level I didn't like it so much anymore.

@rallydefault The shield is really nice. Feels like the safest weapon if you can use it properly with its ability to block attacks. I feel a lot more comfortable with ranged weapons over melee weapons. The bow and rail both have really strong aspects that can just melt enemies for the first couple of floors so I've been having an easy time setting up a strong run with those. I'm still not confident when it comes to dodging during the third boss but I've gotten a lot better at building my run so that I can kill them pretty quickly before I take too much damage.

I have to say, after beating the last boss the game opens up quite a bit and is much more fun again. Since yesterday I beat the last boss 5 times in a row with different weapons (and 4 times with heed on).

@dionysos283 If you haven't tried this in the Pact of Punishment yet, you should turn on the feature that gives bosses extra mechanics. It adds some fun dialogue with it, and it helps make the bosses feel fresh again too. The revamped third boss is ky favourite.

@Cynas It's generally the first part I go to when bumping up the heat level. The first two boss fights are still very manageable so it doesn't make much of a difference to the overall run and the third fight is very amusing. I've only activated the 4th level of it once so far though as I got a bit closer to losing than I would have liked when I tried it out.

@BenAV Both that and the time limit are the first things I go for. They both add a good amount of heat, too. The first time limit, 9 minutes, is easy enough so I don't feel pressured while playing. It helps that the extra time at the end of each floor gets carried over as well.

@Cynas Yeah, I usually play with the nine minute time limit too. Most runs without rushing too much seem to take me around 20 minutes give or take so it's basically a free heat level.

Made it to the last boss two times now, last time I got him into the second phase. I was using the sword and had the health restore, but I didn't switch my tactic and just kept trying to spam him down. Found out the hard way that his second phase swing hurts... a lot lol

I pretty much have the first two levels down no matter what weapon I'm using, and the third boss I've been getting much better at. Such an awesome game. Seems a bit biased toward the ranged weapons barring maybe the hydra boss and the last level, but it's all good.

Anybody have any recommendations for the final boss? I have no problem getting through all the floors with most weapons, but I just can't seem to get this guy down. I do prefer the melee weapons. Any recs on god powers, weapon skills, etc.? I'm generally pretty good at twitchy action games like this, but I'm just having a tough time.

@rallydefault Have you been getting to the final boss with your three death defiances and HP in tact? I find with a strong build and enough HP I can kill him a lot faster than he can kill me even if I play terribly. I find Aphrodite to be a pretty good choice for my main attack as the damage boost is pretty good, the damage reduction help and it's pretty good for keeping Privileged Status active. I'm more comfortable with ranged weapons than melee though.

@BenAV
I have the mirror ability to rez once per chamber, and I have the skeleton tooth for the bigger rez once per run. Are there others I could have?

rallydefault

BenAV

@rallydefault Each mirror skill has two different versions (a red and a green one) you can switch between. Sounds like you're using Stubborn Defiance (the green one) but I think Death Defiance is much better. Fully upgraded it gives you three 50% revives over the course of the whole run. It means you need to be better in standard encounters as you don't want to be throwing them away early but if you can get to the Hades fight with two or three left then that's a lot more HP to work with.

If you loose one Death Defiance, you can often buy one back at the Well of Charon.

dionysos283

BenAV

@dionysos283 Yeah for 200 Obols. Patroclus can also replenish all of your missing charges if you run into him in Elysium and Athena has a couple of boons that replenish one charge.

@BenAV
Ah, I switched to Stubborn Defiance awhile ago and never thought to switch back! Thank you! That does sound much better.
