@BenAV
Almost none of them are compelling enough for me to spent Titan blood on them. It's stuff like "your move speed increases by 3%" or "your weapon shoots 13 bullets, instead of 12". That kind of stuff. But there are upgrades I can't see yet, so maybe they'll get better in the future.
@dionysos283 A lot of the different Aspects have a pretty significant effect on how the weapon plays. Some of them aren't particularly great until they've been upgraded a few times though.
@BenAV
From the descriptions it's often hard to tell how useful these would be. Since I don't have a standard weapon yet and none of them sound compelling enough, I'm saving my Titan blood so far.
@dionysos283 Bow is the weapon I'm most comfortable with so far and I've really enjoyed playing with both the Hera aspect (no upgrades) and the Chiron aspect (fully upgraded). Both play very differently (Hera spams casts, Chiron spams special) and are a lot of fun.
Really enjoying it so far, about 1hr in. Where or how do I collect Titan blood, I walk through every bloodstain on the floor but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Still great fun though..
Just came across this game. Looks interesting. Can someone say somehting about how it plays? Seems a bit like Diablo 3 from the videos I watched, but a bit faster paced?
@reaperxt
It's definitely faster than Dibbles 3 due to the more constrained nature of the environments. Most rooms are an "encounter," and they are not typically sprawling maps like the overworlds in Diablo 3, more like the narrow dungeons and caves. I've made it through the first 3 worlds in Hades, so I can't comment on what comes after. Combat itself may be closer in comparison, probably still a smidge faster, but overall it's definitely a brisk game.
I'm just enamored with it, honestly. I can't put it down. With a game like this that relies so heavily on repetition, aesthetics and controls need to go hand-in-hand flawlessly, and Hades just nails it. The characters are so classic (ha) and engaging, your protagonist actually has a distinct personality, but best of all the combat and movement just feels so silky and responsive.
Sometimes things do get super chaotic and I find myself just madly dashing and button spamming, but I think that's intentional lol I prefer the melee weapons, for sure. I've made it to Elysium's boss when I got a particularly good setup of powers (-60% health but gain 2 health per attack is my favorite), and that was even before I got my mirror powered up.
I love twitchy action games, and Bastion was always one of my favorites, but this is soooo sweet. Highly recommended.
This is definitely a well-made game, but there isn't much variety. You basically fight the same enemies over and over again; and the random generation, in my opinion, doesn't help much. After about 30 runs the game becomes very repetitive and to get the necessary items (Titan Blood, Diamonds, Ambrosia) to upgrade yourself and progress the story are difficult to get, which means you have to grind a lot. I still haven't defeated the final boss (fought him like 15 times already), but I don't think I will play this game for much longer. Anybody else having this experience?
@rallydefault Thnx very much for the informative reply! I enjoyed Bastion a lot also. And seeing as I like the mythological aspects of this one, think I am gonna give it try.
@dionysos283
I don't find it any more repetitive than something like Diablo or Torchlight or Moonlighter or anything like that, to be honest. Now, I only have about 5 hours in it, maybe, so perhaps after another 5 hours or so I may start to feel different about it. But a lot of games in this vein tend to have maybe a dozen or so enemy types, and then they just re-skin them as you get to deeper levels, so I don't really see anything markedly different in that regard.
So, yea, who knows. I'd say I have maybe 20 runs so far, a few definitely ended way early when I got lax on Meg before mirror upgrades, but I'm really enjoying it.
@rallydefault
I know that many games are like this, but I never played these type of games before. Hades is my first. So maybe these game are just not for me.
@dionysos283 I've put 75+ hours into it so far and it hasn't started to feel boring at all for me yet. You have a lot more control over your build than in some other roguelites like Isaac where it's more random so it's definitely up to the player to change things up and make it interesting. It could start to feel a little repetitive if I just chose the same weapon, aspect and God boons every run.
I'm also finding it very easy to win runs but that's what the heat system is for, gradually working my way up the heat levels with different weapons which does make it considerably more challenging the more things you add. It took me ten runs to get my first win, another ten or so to get my second but at that point it all clicked and I've made it to the final boss every run and have only lost a few times since. Have over 50 wins now. Highest heat I've cleared is 18 on the bow but I've been focusing more on switching between the different weapons than pushing the heat as high as I can at this stage.
@BenAV
I'm really happy for you that you enjoy the game that much!
I just now beat the final boss for the first time. It took me 40 runs and I have absolutely no inclination to do another run. I guess tastes are just different.
