Not sure if this has been discussed (excuse me if it has), I purchased my switch on pre--order and like many others use my nintendo as my main console. I brought the grey joycons because I wasn't keen on the kiddie colour schemes. I am now (after 3 years) beginning to experience the dreaded joycon drift. For what reason has nintendo discontinued the grey joycon? I know a 1st world problem but this has really frustrated me to the point of messaging on this site. Does anyone know if these will be re-introduced. As a release colour scheme assumed this would be supported. Despite my love of nintendo has anyone else experienced this pain in the ar..?
@jimmyjames Analog stick drift can occur with any color joycon, and maybe you know that. My 3 year old joycons started getting drift and I replaced them last month. Nintendo will fix them for you (free, I believe), but that could take a 2-3 weeks here in the US - I asked Nintendo Support last month via their chat messenger.
You can try recalibrating the drifting stick in Switch settings, but don't expect a miracle, and it may only yield a temporary fix.
You yourself can replace the stick, but that does required being careful. Spaw Wave, NintendoLife and others on youtube have walkthrough tutorial videos. NintendoLife and Spawn Wave videos share where they sourced the analog stick from amazon.
Nintenodlife's video also shows how to clean the stick with a spray(DO NOT USE WD-40, follow their prescribed directions), and that may solve your situation. I didn't have the mental bandwidtch, and didn't want to mess around. So, I just bought a new pair.

It's news to me that grey was discontinued. I thought they were just out of stock in some places. Very odd. Not only did they stop adding new colors but they discontinued one of the basic ones? Very odd.

About six months ago I saw an announcement that gray, Mario red and I believe the neon yellow were being discontinued. Gray does seem like an odd choice to be discontinued in that they match the console.
@jimmyjames sounds trickier than it is but you can buy the analogue sticks from eBay or Amazon for cheap and it is a simple repair and there is various youtube diy videos.
