Topic: Gamesharing -- Any risks involved with sharing with a stranger?

I registered an acquaintance's account on my Switch as the primary device and downloaded the game from his account to save on paying the full price for a game:

1) I play the game using my own separate user account, no issues there. I'm assuming save data is tied to user account and NOT the game yes?

2) I can play without the internet, and verified in the eShop that my Switch is registered as the Primary console.

Are there any risks involved? I dont want to be pouring hundreds of hours into my game and then suddenly lose access to the game and its save data for whatever reason. Its my first time using Nintendo services at all, so I'm extremely unsure on how all of this works.

My understanding is what I did falls under game-sharing, which is indeed allowed:

My question would then be what risks are involved? (Stated above)

One risk i can think of is if the dude changes the account's password, which means i lose my ability to re-download the game. I'm ok with that, as I'll almost never delete the game to begin with, and my concern lies more with the save data.

Simply put, you won't lose your save data.

Your save data is tied to your system memory/user account/NNID (or any combination of the three). It doesn't hinge on whether you own the game via your NNID. And even if you transfer your data to another console, your save data will migrate with it.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

@TheLightSpirit They said acquaintance so they aren't strangers.

@TheLightSpirit You should read their post, the acquaintance is giving them their details not the other way round.

@jump Thanks for pointing that out. You're right. The word "stranger" distracted me so much, even after I read the post.

@TheLightSpirit Only sharing with the family is a bit too hardline imo. Put on password protect when making purchase and I see no problem with sharing with a friend, it's not like being a cuckold and sharing your wife ;p

Thanks for the replies and concerns guys, duly noted. As mentioned by my OP, I did not share any personal details (cc details or whatnot) with the seller. The seller gave me his Nintendo account details, which i proceeded to add to my Switch (as primary device). My only concern was what would happen if:

1) I download game A already
2) He decides to change the account password and lock me out

Do I immediately lose access to the downloaded game OR I just lose the ability to REDOWNLOAD it if god forbid, I deleted the game off my switch?

Thanks again too, for clearing my doubts on the save data being 'stolen', since I see that it's tied to my specific user account, so as long as i tie the save data to my own user account and not the seller's I'm in the clear right?

@lonerdude Since your console will be the other guy's "non-primary" console, you can only play his game with his account. And you both can't play with his account at the same time, unless one of you are offline. I think that's how it goes? Nintendo's ecosystem makes sharing games a pain, unless you stay offline. Nintendo makes having more than one console a pain; both consoles cannot be played at the same time if they are connected to the internet.
