@jump I buy from WB and Ubisoft sales too but like you said they’re cheaper than if you buy them physically so even if I don’t like the game (like with Starlink) I only paid a fraction of the price so I don’t feel too guilty. But I guess I still was the one that get ripped off 😞

Splatoon 2 - I was SO skeptical this game that I bought it digitally, thinking there was no way I'd end up liking the game that much. Although, it is nice not having to plug a game card in - favorite game, always ready, no fiddling. I still may buy the physical version later, on sale.

Minecraft. I thought it would be fun, but I'm just not good at it, at all.

We need a Mario + Rabbids sequel! And an Odyssey one too!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Too. Damn. Big!!
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. I should have waited a little for a physical copy.
Ōkami HD. I bought this a few days ago when it was on sale, and even if I'll love the game it's so big, at a whopping 9.6GB
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition.

Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Persona 4 Golden
Dragon Quest XI S
F1 23
Xenoblade Chronicles 2

@Eel some games are digital only and no demo. Sometimes you take a chance. Sometimes a game is hyped but doesn’t click with you. Much of that requires a purchase.

@faint my other post was in reference to WoomyNNYes's post, the one immediately above it. I'm not sure why are you bringing the OP up right now.

Reading it again it seems they don't actually regret buying Splatoon 2, they regret not buying it physically. I originally read it as "I bought it digitally because I was skeptical about it, and now I regret it".

@horizonisland Yeah sonic never meshed with me even as a kid. I love the music though. I used to leave my genesis on for hours, listening to the soundtrack. I have most of the OSTs now because of that.

None, because I research what I'm buying and factor in size and replay value.

I've been pretty lucky in this respect as my general rule is to not pay anything over AU$15 for digital releases, and no to digital games that consume more than 2GB of space unless there is a physical release. I have only ever made a handful of exceptions to these rules (and I usually regret it when I do). I also save my gold coins for DLC purchases as I abhor the practice and don't want to pay for console-locked content tied to physical releases. It defeats the purpose of even having a physical release at all (and I'm happy to pay more or double-dip for a complete edition).

Most of the digital games I have wanted have had (or will have) physical releases. Had I known that a DOOM 64 physical release was going to be on the cards, I would have held out for it. With that said, that didn't stop me from buying two copies.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

@Shadowthrone I do too and that’s why I felt confident enough to buy them digitally. Like with Three Houses, I knew it was going to be big and replayable and I even loved Awakening on the 3DS, but I still hated Three Houses for reasons I never would have foreseen. I’ve learned that even if you do your research and read both the critics and players review, because everyone’s gaming tastes and expectations are so different, it’s impossible to be fully prepared and I feel like eventually you will purchase something that should have been a home run but you simply will not vibe with one reason or another you didn’t see coming. I guess that’s why physical is a much safer and arguably better medium for gaming (even though I much prefer the convenience of digital...)

@Eel I was wondering that too. If you believe you’re not going to like a game, why would you buy it digital where you can’t get a refund or sell it later?

@horizonisland I tend to want my big major time sink games that I play through in big sessions to be physical. Big JRPGs and long story based games. But games I return to in smaller bursts I like being digital. There are only two games I wish I had bought opposite what I did. I should have bought Pokemon Shield digitally, since it's the latter category, and FE3H physically, since it's the former.

I have no issues swapping games, but the dust cover on the Switch isn't hinged, it's just plastic that we bend each time. It makes me nervous.

...Minecraft, why did I do this? I bought it, started a game and stood there for like 10 seconds wondering "why am I not playing a different game?", haven't touched it ever since, this was a couple of years ago I think, can't remember.

I don't think i have any digital buyers remorse. I do regret buying some games physical instead of digital. Battle Chef Brigade is fantastic (I'm a sucker for Limited Run Games) but i don't know how many times i've avoided the daily challenge because i'd have to get up and change games. Animal Crossing is the same way to some extent. All i'd like to do is pop in, brush up on current events with neighbor squirrel, and be off.

Give me a heads-up if you're going to send a request please.

@Heavyarms55 That system makes a lot of sense. I’m very happy I bought Pokémon digitally because it is exactly as you said: a game you can return to really easily for short bursts. I wish I bought Three Houses physical too, because imo FE games are hit or miss quality wise and I could have returned it.

I even keep Pokemon Shield installed directly on the Switch's storage.

I have been told things load quicker that way.
