Ok.

I've seen the "Games you recently DROPPED" thread going on . . . but I'm wondering about the games that everyone has PICKED BACK UP to play . . .

On the Switch . . . (when I can actually get my hands on it, ie. my kids aren't playing it), I decided to get back into Super Mario Odyssey. I think I'm on the last (or second last) world right now.

No Man's Sky - Chomping at the bit for Starfield, and NMS is the closest thing to Starfield.

Xenocrisis - The closest thing to Smash TV, a twin-stick gem lost to time.

Ghost Blade HD - Just a really good shmup.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,529 games (as of November 20th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 3 games (as of November 23rd, 2025)

Bunkerneath

@Magician Xenocrisis is only 4 years old, I wouldn't call that lost to time. (Also its a four page spread in this months Retrogamer- that's why I know this )

@Bunkerneath Smash TV is the gem lost to time. Xenocrisis just plays like it.

I've been playing Let's Go, Eevee again. I don't even know why as even the bulk of the game is painfully underwhelming. I've only just started playing Scarlet a few weeks ago (after completing Violet) and I found a shiny Lechonk before even reaching the school.

I've been grinding in Cerulean Cave to get one of every Poke up to Lv. 100 so I can defeat all of the master trainers.

Why?!!!!

Somebody stop me.

There's so much else to play!

Porygon did nothing wrong.

Cyberpunk 2077. Doing some of the side quest stuff I forgot to do during my play through.

@Magician check out crimsonland on switch. It’s probably my favourite twinstick on the system and I have most of them on there. I’m a huge fan of both smash tv and xenocrisis too.

@Magician | RE: Xenocrisis | I had heard of the game. I was aware that it was available for a lot of older systems. I didn't know it was available for Switch!

@Sisilly_G | RE: Sombody stop me | LOL. Why stop if you're enjoying it! Hey . . . but as far as "There's so much else to play!" that is so true of the Switch. There is just so many game to choose from.

@ZeldaFan84 | RE: Cyberpunk 2077 | That game looks intense. And the story looks pretty good. I'm going to have to take a closer look at that one.

Happy gaming everyone!

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is my current pick-back-up. I think I wasn't in the mood when I first bought it, but now I'm having tons of fun. It had been long enough I decided to completely restart the game.

In general, I drop games and jump back in months or years later quite often.

Tears of the Kingdom - It's time to finish it. Maybe...

RE: Spyro Reignited Trilogy | I had to look that one up. I am wondering if the 1st game is the Sony PS1 game from years and years ago. If so . . . I played that on a PS1 that I borrowed from a friend, but never finished the game before returning the PS1. LOL.

RE: drop games . . . I can't remember how many games I've dropped. LOL. Most of the time I forget what is happening and have to restart the game. It had been a while since I actually really finished a game, until I got my hands on Samus Returns for our 2DS and finished that. Now it's got me dusting off the old games I started and wanting to finish (although I am fine with it not being 100%) a short list of these games.

Good luck on Spyro!

@rallydefault

RE: Maybe . . . Good luck on Tears of the Kingdom! Did you finish BotW? And what is next on your To-Be-Completed list after TotK?

@NintendoDad
I did finish BotW basically as soon as it came out. Though I'm not really a fan of the BotW-style Zelda games, I still ate it up when it first launched. I got every shrine and completed every quest (except the Korok seeds). TotK hasn't been holding me in the same way, but I'm going to see it through.

After this, it depends. I really do want to finally finish Xenoblade II (I'm about halfway through, off and on since launch lol), but if there's not much time left until Mario Wonder comes out, I might just swing back and finish off Bravely Default II because I'm pretty near the end of that one.

I have an awful habit of putting down RPGs that just aren't absolutely enthralling me in the first 10-20 hours, although given the nature of RPGs, I think it's a common thing with people. I even dropped Baldur's Gate 3 recently even though it's an incredible game. It's just... so dang big, and I got exhausted. They're not the kinds of games I naturally enjoy, it's just that they can be really special if you hit one at the right time in your life and soak it all in.

@rallydefault I have the same issue with big RPGs and often stopping after 20 hours. I never actually finished BotW for the same reason. I prefer games I can play for 20 minutes at a time if I want or drop for a few weeks and pick back up without having to remember 900 things about where I am.

Pokemon is an exception — I just play those for 90 hours straight for some reason. I do like the fact that they are the least get-lost-able rpgs around. Even open world pokemon is just completely impossible to get lost in. Kinda wish more big rpgs (and metroidvanias) would follow that lead.

BotW had me in a constant state of lost. It's definitely the only game which has ever had me freeze to death dozens of times in a row in the starter area.

Tears of the Kingdom. I filled out the map and did a bunch of exploration then took a break. I'm finishing plot stuff now. Incidentally this is what soured me on BotW because the guardian beast dungeons (or w/e) were dog barf and I couldnt bring myself to care about any of the characters or plot. The main quest in TotK, on the other hand, is much better imo.

There's man all over for you, blaming on his boots the faults of his feet.

RE: BotW and TotK . . . I haven't tried either yet. I didn't get BotW for the Wii U, because I was going to wait until we got a Switch. And then I didn't get it for Switch because I wanted to get games my kids would play. And now . . . with me going through my collection of old games I haven't completed . . . I realized I've got OOT (3DS), MM (3DS), Link's Awakening (eShop), Twilight (Wii) and Skyward Sword (Wii) that I've never finished any of them yet. LOL. So I've picked-back-up OOT on our 2DS as my current "right now" game. LOL. My plan is to try to work my way through the games I've already got. LOL. (I hope our Switch lasts long enough for me to get to BotW and TotK . . . or that Switch 2 has backward compatibility! LOL. )

RE: at the right time . . . I hear you on that. Some games I really enjoyed and couldn't put down . . . but then now, I'm enjoying other types of games.

@FishyS

RE: I prefer games I can play for 20 minutes at a time . . .

Yeah. I am really growing to appreciate that right now. I don't always have time to dump a lot of time into a session. Sometimes I only have 10 minutes here or 30 minutes there to play. It's usually while I am waiting for something / someone. Like taking my kids to music lessons, sometimes I can sneak in a bit of play while I wait.

So games with small little bits of levels that you can complete and then save are my preferred.

The last game I finished "Samus Returns" was great. Little bit of levels I could finish. And a nice map that showed me what I had done, so I could remember what I had to do next. I really enjoyed that game.

Happy Gaming!

Ah, that is funny! I'm actually going back through my Zelda games on my 3DS, as well. I'm playing Link Between Worlds on the side of Tears of the Kingdom, haha. I did beat Link Between Worlds when it launched, but I'm giving in a more thorough playthrough now. And I have to be honest, I just much prefer the more classic Zelda formula.

Neckcrane

I pick up Slay the Spire once a year, it usually keeps me amused for the following 100 hours or so until I fall off and pick it up again a year later. One day I will climb to and best the lvl20 spire

RE: TofK | How's the main quest in TotK? Made any progress?

@XandertheWise

RE: Skyward Sword | I started up the game . . . but it's been years. Probably 4 years since I picked it up. When I pick it back up, I'll start from the beginning. How's your progress?

@rallydefault

RE: Link Between Worlds . . . +1 Don't tempt me on getting another Zelda game. At least not until I get a few of the games I already have done, done. LOL. For our 2DS . . . in addition to Link's Awakening . . . I also downloaded the 2 Zelda Ages Of games. All three that I haven't finished. LOL.

What do you mean by classic Zelda formula?

Happy Gaming!
