So the last update appearently made it so you can use the Wii Gamecube adapter on the Switch which in turns make it so you can use the Gamecube Controllers now.
This is interesting especially if you happen to have the adapter and a few GC controllers. Not sure what games work with the GC controllers but I am sure we will find out in the days to come.

I'm glad I don't have to buy extra Joy-Con yet, thanks to this update. Now I can play 4 player multiplayer games as long as they don't require buttons that aren't on GC controller.
@BLP_Software Don't forget about the sticks. They don't click.
It's not working for me at all.
-Switch is up to date
-Have enabled wired controller connection
-Controllers are up to date
I'm using the Mayflash adapter. I'm starting to think that it's the adapter that won't work on the Switch. I made sure that if the adapter was functional. Tried it on Smash Wii U and it worked perfectly fine. Then tried it on my Switch and I got nothing. I did tried on both PC and Wii U modes and still no luck. I even restarted the Switch and still nothing.
Nintendo really should re-sell the Wavebird controllers, but with the 3DS batteries instead of AAs. They'd sell like hotcakes, especially if they smelled like hotcakes.

How do you make it to work? I have the Mayflash 4 port adapter and it won't work. It works perfectly fine on Wii U and PC but not on the Switch. How did you get yours to work?
@MrGamerClock64 I'm not actually sure when mine worked, because I was looking for the controller to register on the Controllers screen, but it doesn't. I only realised mine worked when I started pressing buttons and wiggling the stick. So it might have worked immediately, or it might have been after I fiddled. I haven't actually checked that it works in-game yet and now have packed the adapter and controller away again.
If the obvious (plug GC controller into adapter, plug adapter into Switch dock) isn't enough, go into System Settings on your Switch, and scroll down to 'Controllers and Sensors' and make sure 'Pro Controller Wired Communication' is set to 'On'.
My adapter has a 'PC'/'Wii U' switch on it - mine is switched to 'Wii U'.

I have enabled wired controller connection and have it set to Wii U mode, but still nothing. I tried it on all USB ports, tested with multiple controllers, used all ports, and restarted my Switch. No results for me.
@MrGamerClock64 I read some people could use their Mayflash adapters. I had trouble getting my Switch to recognize GC controllers at first and I was using the official adapter. I tried multiple things and after a while it just worked. The last two things I did before it worked were to update my controllers from settings and visiting "search for controllers" option under the "change grip/order" option.
@MrGamerClock64 You're on 4.0.0 firmware? Try a system restart, that's another thing I did while fiddling.
My adapter has two usb plugs, a black one and a grey one. With only the grey plugged in, it doesn't work. With only the black plugged in, or them both plugged in, it works.
I'm also seeing it registered as a usb controller on the controllers screen now.
And I've tested it in-game, managing to win a 200cc MK8D race first-time, despite the clunkiness of the triggers compared to the L & R buttons on the joy-con
