with the new Smash game at our doors, I was wondering this; is it possible to use a gamecube controller while playing on the switch display? Or do you have do be docked in order to access the USB ports to connect the adapter in?
For one thing the port is a USB-C on the Switch and won't work with USB2.0 connectors. I think that was made for the Nintendo Dock usage. We also shouldn't say "using a OTG USB you will make it work". That's some loose usage there so unless it's been shown to work that's something we should disclaimer from making. You should really contact Nintendo Support and ask them that would at least provide an answer if what you want to do will work.
Update: Tried the USB adapter and it works! Both with the unofficial and the official gamecube adapter. for the record, this is the exact OTG I bought and tested with Mario Tennis Aces: http://a.co/3amasLu
@ValhallaOutcast Also regarding that video, I WAS able to play 4 different characters with gamecube controllers in Mario Tennis Aces, its working beautifully.
