Topic: First Nintendo Switch: quick question

Hi,

Happy to be here, this is my very first message on this forum. I have a question: My partner and I are going on a long flight and we would like to play games together. With two Nintendo Switch and if we want to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and battle each other, do we need to buy 1 game or 2 games for us to do so?

You need two copies. You might also need to be online but don’t quote me on that. Been a while since me and my brother did two switch co op.

@myfirstnintendo You two should be able to play on one system with two joycons though, correct me if I'm wrong or missed any details

@myfirstnintendo : You can play split screen with a single console, but if you each want to play on your own consoles, then yes, you will both need separate copies of the game. There is a wireless multiplayer option in the main menu (and no, you don’t need to be online, contrary to what is stated above).

Unfortunately, there is no Download Play app on Switch, so you will need separate copies of games in most instances.

Yes you're correct, the two joy-cons can be used as separate controllers so two players can play on one Switch.
