@DarthNocturnal: Well maybe it was that they used some assets from 64 in PoR. Sounds like I'm not remembering quite right or that whatever said it a few years back was wrong. Thank you for the correction though. (It looks like some people confuse FE64 and the PoR Beta as well. Who knows...)

@SomeBitTripFan: By that logic, it sounds like they have to do something like Chronicles.

But doing that kind of graphics requires more power and that is something that I really don't know if Nintendo is willing to do it.

So let's assume that the NX is HD and its a portable. If they do make all the models 3D, how do they do it in such a way that battles can be skipped? It has to be pixel art graphics because of it being plain and simple.

HD graphics can't have pixel art? And here we're forgetting that Super Mario Maker exists.....

Chronicles? I'm going to need for you to be more specific.

It's a matter of having decent power. The next Nintendo portable should be comparable, at the least, to the Xbox 360. It shouldn't be that difficult. At the worst, they would need to have a field view and combat view LoD. Keeping the framerate above 30 FPS wouldn't be too difficult and small occasional dips would barely affect the experience (it is a turn-based game after all). The technical prowess should not be a concern at all.

As @DarthNocturnal mentioned, PoR and RD already had a simple field view combat animation. It could remain an option and wouldn't take much work to implement. The only reason the 3DS games used sprites for units on the field map was the 3DS's awful screen resolution and size. Trying to cram details into a few small pixels on a tiny screen is going to come out looking uglier than a simple sprite. With a decent screen size and resolution, this should not be an issue anymore. As a result, the pixel art can be omitted and optimally, for a smoother presentation style and reduction in workload, the field and combat views could be unified.

I never said HD graphics can't include pixel art. The overall aesthetic has to suit them though. Look at Mario Maker. It's aesthetic is bright, flat, and minimalistic. The aesthetic, although in an HD resolution, is not high on detail. The game has multiple templates which have a unified aesthetic, with a few modern, minimalist touches to their designs (the shadows). High resolution and high detail are different though.

@Kazuo: Btw....In conquest's story, just what was the role of the Fire Emblem? Was it ever mentioned during the story? I was just wondering this myself.

oh and for the sake of avoiding spoilers, hide the text and if conquest's story is tied to revelation, then don't mention it.

@Socar I don't think the Fire Emblem was actually mentioned at all in Conquest now that I think of it. But it is mentioned in Revelation. (Won't go into more detail unless you want me to)

I found it kind of odd that it is like that, but the Fire Emblem hasn't always had a major part in every game. If I recall correctly, it was just the family crest of Bern's Royal family in FE 6 and 7 and didn't have a major part in the story.

@DarthNocturnal
Ah, I see.
I thought that the Fire Emblem was in Gaiden in some form, but I guess I'm mistaken.

@Kazuo: Damn, I told you to not mention it if it IS in Revelation. Damn, now that head of mine won't erase that part......unless if its actually true that the story for Revelation really isn't that great from what reviewers have stated.

Huh......pretty weird to call a game title Fire Emblem if it doesn't appear or doesn't have any meaning. I mean that's like calling Legend of Zelda without having Zelda (actually, there are a few games that do that but that's beside the point.)

@Socar oh, sorry. I tried not to go into much detail though.
I think I've found Revelation to be pretty good though. It's more like a mix between Birthright and Conquest in terms of gameplay, objectives are always seize/defeat boss, but many maps have interesting gimmicks to them.

Socar

@Kazuo: So I find getting skills in Fates more complex compared to Awakening since you can't relevel from start.....

I'm playing Birthright right now.....how do I get Subaki the Astra Skill and Hana the Miracle skill?

Also, what is best suitable class for both these units? Should I let Hana just stick to Swordmaster in the end or make her a Priestess? What about Subaki?

@Socar I don't really know which class would really be best for most characters. I usually stick with their main one for the most part.
But for Subaki you just have to make him a sword master with a heart seal and level him up 3 times. (If he hasn't been in the class before it will get samurai skills first). Same for Hana with I think a priestess, but it should be on the first level.

@OneBagTravel which one do you plan on playing first? Mystery of the Emblem also has the DS remake btw if you plan on playing that. I haven't gotten to Genealogy of the Holy War nor Thracia yet since I'm currently going through Binding Blade and recently finished Fates, but I've heard a lot of good things about both games (as well as Thracia's difficulty).

@Kazuo: I honestly don't understand why Nintendo at the very least can't do a retelling of the old Fire Emblem games if they know that Marth and Roy are the most popular characters in the series.

They did it for Zero, so why not for FE?

I'm gonna play Holy war again and honestly, I recommend you that you play it. From what I've played, its one of those only games that have very serious stuff going on.....you'll really want to get into it.

My only issue with the translations is.....what if they weren't exactly on the script and we're missing some exclusive dialogue. Kinda like how Fates got censored....not that I care so much about it.

This has been bothering me as well. Out of all the works that Intelligent Systems has done, which is the most that they made profit on? If its not FE, then why are they motivated to make more of that? I mean they themselves decided to end it if Awakening did not sell well.

Don't get me wrong, I love Awakening but the way that game had no feet, still didn't satisfy that many fans and how many claim that Lunatic is damn easy in that game would prove that the game could not have done well......

Of course, we have to be thankful that it did the opposite.

I guess in some way, when developers love IPs, they want to keep making it because its a thing that they want to expand for as much as possible.

I'm not really sure what to think about this. I was thinking that I could see Fire Emblem on mobile, it could work like the touch controls of Shadow Dragon/Bew Mystery. However I would definitely prefer a new FE on a console/handheld.
We better get one for NX in the near future.

I'm hopeful this new game will be good though. Never quite imagined I would have Fire Emblem on my phone.

Fire Emblem on Mobile........why..........oh they can really screw this up for many things.........................

I get Animal Crossing but why............WHY FIRE EMBLEM?

@arronishere: Happy buddy. Now another Nintendo IP is gonna get screwed and its my favorite one! >:<

I know I'm double posting here.....But I don't care so pardon the irritation.

Let's see how they can screw this up.

1. Not allowing players to reset the game when a unit dies. If you want the unit alive, use microtransactions.

2. Have a certain turn limit where if you want more turns, use microtransactions.

3. If you want specific weapons, use Microtransactions.

4. If you want to develop relationships or the "waifu" mechanic, get more maps through microtransactions.

5. Forge your weapons with microtransactions.

6. Reclassing can work through microtransactions.

7. Getting skills now needs microtransactions.

8. Unlocking more stories requires microtransactions. (Fates is better than what this one will ever be btw!)

9. Treasure chests can only open through microtransactions.

10. And lastly, Units can only be recruited with Microtransactions.

@Kazuo: You know, I kinda get you. If this mobile game is the way of saying like we won't make anymore FE games on Handhelds/Consoles, this looks like a bad move. But I'm pretty positive here that's not the case. I'm only worried if it gets more profit that it simply would alienate the fans further and that if that does end up having FE series ending on a sad note.

I mean, look at Sakura Wars on Mobile now!

@Socar I think I might have been overthinking things. I'm certain we will see more console/handheld FE games in the future, plus since it will be more simplified I don't think it will be quite like a full game.
With micro transactions, I don't think they'll go that far, but I could see some parts being like DLC from Fates/Awakening. I could definitely see paying money to get more gold being a likely option.

That got me thinking though, when losing a unit I usually go "a b start select", etc. Depending on the control scheme, but I guess it would be different with mobile. Would I have to close and re-open my app each time?

yokokazuo

Socar

@Kazuo: The way I did it in Final Fantasy Tactics is I open the suspended software, close it and reopen the app again. But I'm not certain if this is something Nintendo knows it can do.

Money unless you want better equipment and concoctions, isn't really a big deal actually since you can use staves for healing and weapons being like what? Unbreakable.
