Seperate question, can you only use the healing rod against dead enemies?

@komodo182 not yet. I just played desert castle. Landed back on the forgotten continent.

Or 'attack' your party to heal them, potentially, @NintendoByNature .... It's more useful for what it teaches than as a weapon, since it's for mages!

@BruceCM I probably should have brought it with me to the ark battle honestly, then since I couldn't use magic.

Yeah but never mind now, @NintendoByNature .... There's various tricks that can make that battle easier but you've done it, so that's all that matters

@Snaplocket I’m new to the series and tempted by XII. I hear it’s quite Marmite though.
What puts it near the bottom for you?

@BruceCM @komodo182 just played thru ipsen castle last night(upside down). Had I not read that little monument before full entering i would've had a tough time with the dungeon. All and all it was pretty simple.

Now that I grabbed the (4) pendants or seals. And ill be heading to the shrines, how much longer is the game would you say? I won't be doing any side quests, but I may do an hour or two of grinding if I have the ability to do so.

XII isn't a bad game at all. It's very good. But it was just very different from every other entry in the series, so that's why a lot of people didn't like it.
If you're new to the series that probably won't affect you though.

The shrines shouldn't take you long, @NintendoByNature .... You shouldn't need to grind, since you'll level up enough, anyway Should be a few hours, just there's another dungeon before the final one & those take some time between them but not as long as plenty of FF end-games

@komodo182 @BruceCM good stuff..as much as I love the game, I'm ready to see the credits roll.

I'd like to focus on paper Mario before xenoblade drops.
