@BruceCM yea it wasn't so bad. I'm glad it wasn't forced down your throat at least. I easily won the first 2 rounds, but lost the last. It really reminded me of joustus on KoC

Some people seem to really like the card game in that a lot, @NintendoByNature.... Can't say it does much for me, though You'll let me know if you do run into any difficulties or just update when you've played some more?

@BruceCM I'll be on tonight for sure, and keep you posted. I'll prob do 2-3 hours a day of ff9 and dip my toe into paper Mario every day. So I'll surely run into some snags soon.

If you want the best stuff in the game, you'll have to do the chocobo hot & cold nonsense, @NintendoByNature.... Fortunately, you can get good enough stuff without that

@BruceCM ehh i usually don't dip into side content, Not even in zelda games (my favorite series). Only game I go out of my way to grab a ton of side items are gold skulltulas in OoT.. they're usually on the way wherever you're going and some of them are fun to find. Other than that, I'm not into doing any side quests or mini games( unless it's fishing )

Arrived at Fossil Roo last night. I know narratively I'm kinda "on the run" currently, but I'm kinda getting tired at the rate I'm running into bosses you can't grow from (other than maybe stealing an item from them, you don't earn any AP for clearing them). I'm talking about all the fights you're supposed to lose (which makes sense) & and also the fights you can win, but because the opponent runs away instead of dying in terms of narrative, you're still not rewarded. I'm talking about the evil Jesters guarding Garnett, that Death Chariot thing that chases you in Fossil Roo, and the female bounty hunter there too.

No fishing, sorry, @NintendoByNature.... You can do that in Trails & Ys games, though, if that might encourage you to play those
I prefer the way earlier FFs had the best weapons in the main story or combined with meaningful side-quests but you certainly don't need them

@RR529 you're right on my tail then..
@BruceCM well i do have Ys.. trails is on my radar but if im grabbing xenoblade and paper Mario origami day 1 I won't have time for trails.

You'll soon get bosses you have to actively kill, @RR529.... Maybe keep ToCSIII on your list for some future time, @NintendoByNature?
It's obviously not a big part of either series but there's plenty of opportunities for doing so if you want to, with nice rewards

Arrived at Conde Petie this afternoon. Is there any magic/item/ability that can cure the "Trouble" status effect (my party members kept getting inflicted with it inside Fossil Roo, and I just sort of pushed through with it).

In other news, Quina learned White Wind, so I now have a pretty effective party wide healing option.

Only thing for that is Annoyntment, @RR529....

@RR529

I think you mostly just inflicted with that in one area.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

RR529

@BruceCM, okay thanks! One issue I have is that there's no description of what items do what, at least as far as I can tell. Only things that stand out to me are the basic curatives (Potions, Phoenix Downs), Antidote for Poison, Echo Screen for Silence, and Soft for Petrification.

I swear X didn't have as many status ailments (or at least Yuna had a catch all spell that cured most of them other than stuff like petrify).

You probably won't find too many more enemies giving you that status, @RR529.... I thought items did say but you probably have to look carefully

@RR529 i found that to be an issue too. It would be a guess and check method for any spell you had on you. I usually stock up on every potion possible just in case.

@BruceCM going to desert palace soon. Doing a tiny bit of grinding prior. I see that ark is a level 38. My team is 28-29. What's the recommended level for bosses? At or close to their level? Or think I squeeze away with a low 30s level for my party?

Also and probabaly a silly question, but now that i have most of my old members at my disposal, is it wise to not use them since they're only in the high teens as far as level goes? I like them, but im worried they'll bring my team down being so under leveled.

BruceCM

Well, it depends who you want to use, @NintendoByNature .... If you have enough people levelled to choose from? Generally, you can get away with your party being a few levels lower but Ark might be tough for you if you're not at least 35

@BruceCM yea ark was really tough. I didn't catch the part about not being able to use magic so I brought in quina and Garnet. I would've chosen others had I caught that detail. I had to use battle assistance a couple times. First time I've had to do that since antlion.. I easily best the desert palace boss though. That's where I left off last night. On the way back to forgotten continent.

BruceCM

Cool, @NintendoByNature .... Garnet will have a 50/50 chance of doing anything for a bit, though You should be fine for awhile, at least but do keep me posted

@BruceCM so I don't know why but alot of my characters lately are doing very little damage (20-30hp) with some of the best weapons you can get via stores.. there was no status effects, so why would that happen?

NintendoByNature

BruceCM

Hmm, just which weapons are those, @NintendoByNature .... ? & against which enemies? There's some that are relatively resistant to physical damage & others have elemental strengths that may affect things
