@BruceCM With III, the main thing I've heard is that some suggest playing the game all the way up until the last dungeon, then quitting due to the sheer difficulty. It could be the impressions I read refer to earlier versions of the game, however. There's something about a lack of save points as well in a difficult spot? Details are muddier on that.
@Ralizah I have heard decent things about III's job system and summons. It's mainly the difficulty and grindiness that puts me off. Not that I don't want a game to be somewhat challenging, and I don't mind some grinding in JRPGs, but it sounded like a bit too much of both for my preferences.
I am interested in that Dawn of Souls collection and will look into it. Thanks for mentioning it!

Ah, that's probably the DS version, @Tyranexx.... Unfortunately, there's no save points in the dungeons No auto-save, either. Most of the final dungeon isn't that terrible but it is quite long
They added autosave to the Android/ios ports, though
@BruceCM See, the lack of save points/auto-save is a bit of a dealbreaker for me due to how my schedule works sometimes. I used to be able to play video games for hours on end; not so much these days. XD Darn adulting....
Might look into the Android port at some point however.

There is a quick-save, that works well for breaks, @Tyranexx.... But no use if you get killed With Android /ios ports, you can also do the extra content if you want, though & with the option to upload your save-data, as a backup, too
Well, they do work for taking a break, @Tyranexx.... At least I'd be around to advise & guide, if needed, too Although the summons look cool, in III, I wouldn't actually suggest using them, though
@BruceCM I'm trying to finish up Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright. I'm at the second-to-last chapter but want to spend a little time grinding my better units since I'm playing on Hard.
I've also started Batman: The Telltale Series as a short interlude game. I've never played a Telltale game, so these choices may warrant future replays.

@BruceCM I played through the Conquest side a couple of years ago; I originally wasn't going to get Birthright but couldn't resist when I found it on clearance for $19 a few months ago. I don't think I'll ever bother with Revelation since it's DLC-only. Unless I ever decide to sell a kidney for a cartridge with all three paths, of course. XD
