This will be my first FIFA. I used to get down on that EA Sports Hockey on the PS2 though. In my teenage years, going at it for 48 straight hours on a crazy psilocybin induced video game hockey binge lol... ahh yes those were the days
I just want to prop it up in tabletop and play soccer with people. That looks way cool. Too bad we'll likely never see a hockey game, or a baseball game beyond RBI

I have this on pre-order, I am looking forward to it. I am also toying with the idea of buying NBA 2K18 because I think it will be interesting to compare the respective approaches taken to develop FIFA and NBA 2K18 on the Nintendo Switch. Will EA's 60fps, scaled down, custom build approach prove more popular than 2K's full game, 30fps approach to developing NBA 2K18?
I think I will skip NBA 2k this year. That game will cost me 110$ because of the whole memory card fiasco. FIFA is looking a whole lot better because of that.

@Scal_Capone I really doubt many people will be taking the FPS into that much consideration. Whichever of the two proves more popular on Switch, I really don't think the FPS is going to be the deciding factor.

I think a memory card is a wise investment regardless. I'd leave the 29.7gb internal space for updates and patches. But then you've got digital games (Sonic Mania, SnipperClips, FAST RMX, etc) and retro classics/VC that will come in due time, plus mandatory downloads or installs...
The best bang for buck is the 128gb, but you could always toss in a $10 32gb and double your space, or a $22 64gb and triple your space.

@JaxonH I'm trying to avoid it for as long as I can. I also have to renew my BB membership in about a month to keep up that savings.
I really wish BB would have a decent sale on a 128gb card. Here's another problem, I want Resident Evil Revelations 2 and that's just over 20% of a 128gb and NBA wants what another 20 something? I'm not going to invest in multiple 128gb cards for these lousy retail practices. I understand the digital files and am fine with that.

It is, but I think the games you'll actually be buying that requires large chunks of space will be few. In fact, NBA and RE aside, you likely won't run into very many others. A 128gb + 32 internal means 160gb total. Unless you buy alot of games like me, that should last you.
Me? I have a 400gb card on order to upgrade my 256gb. That'll be 432gb total- which comes pretty close to my Wii U with 500gb HDD.

It's really annoying that there's not going to be a demo for the Switch version. I wanted to compare the PC version to it, not the graphics obviously, but if they actually play any differently 😒
Played the PS4 demo last night. CPU still a joke. Nothing has changed since I last played FIFA and that was all the way back to FIFA 11. Still no need to have a midfield. Midfield is totally irrelevant. CPU just launches 40 yard inch perfect long passes.
@kobashi100 I just watched IGN's 'review in progress' for FIFA 18 and they said much the same - defensive midfielders are basically made redundant by the imbalance between attack and defence in the game (best to go with a 7-0-3 formation by the looks of things! )
The reviewer frustratingly made no reference whatsoever to the Switch version of the game - massive oversight on his part - but I shouldn't imagine that the Switch version's AI will be dramatically different...ah well, I might still get it for some arcadey football action on the go - then again, I might just do what I always do and just get Football Manager instead...

It's not. There is no large update listed on eshop. They also would have said something by now.
And, only 3 retail games to date required a download. NBA 2k18, RE Revelations Collection and DOOM. 2 of those 3 have legit excuses seeing as they couldn't fit on a 32gb cart. Only one was bogus.
Everything else for Switch is all on the cart. I don't think we've reached a point we have to worry about every game. Not unless it's larger than 32gb

So from what I’m hearing about it is it doesn’t play similar at all to the PC & other consoles, but is similar to FIFA 16. Kinda annoyed about that, I got over it using a different engine, but I thought the gameplay would be similar. I’m now in two minds weather to cancel my Switch pre order and just get it on PC. Decisions decisions.... 🤔
