It's...an alright series of rpg. They're not action/rpg like Ys VIII or Diablo III and they're not turn/menu based like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. There's a counter/defense system in the game, something close to what you'd find in Batman Arkham or Assassin's Creed, except on a 2D plane rather a 3D plane in those games.
