I've wondered wether Nintendo will expand and add more titles like Super Mario 3D World etc to the nintendo eshop on the switch? Would be grateful for some info. Still debating if I should buy the switch or not and being able to buy old games will be a big plus.
I don't know if the Switch has the horsepower to emulate Wii U games. I can see them cutting it off at Wii, since the tech behind the Switch is capable of running Gamecube games very well, and Wii wasn't as much of a leap where horsepower is concerned.
Ports are very possible (see; BotW and MK8D), but many would rather the Switch not become last-gen port focused. A few “must own“ games like Smash, Kart, and maybe Mario Maker, but otherwise, they'd prefer new games.

I doubt we'll see Wii U VC, it's probably too much for the Switch to emulate. I would guess we'll see NES, SNES, GB, N64, GBC, GBA, GC, and Wii. DS, 3DS, and Wii U might not be possible on Switch because of dual screens and the hardware being too strong.
@Shleem a lot of titles would have to be reworked due to the second screen so I doubt we will get wiiu virtual console in any meaningful way. I do think we will see more wiiu ports physical and digital in the years to come as deluxe editions
Yeah, Wii U emulation doesn't seem feasible right now. The Wii U itself did have some Wii games on the eShop, but those were running off built-in backwards compatibility, which the Switch doesn't have. Nintendo do have plenty of reason to develop ports though, especially after the success of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I'm sure we'll get some more Wii U ports during the Switch's lifespan. Hell, I wouldn't mind if all Nintendo-published Wii U games come to Switch. But, no, there won't be any kind of Wii U VC.
I'm hopeful for Wii VC though. I need that WarioWare: Smooth Moves on the go.

Maybe 3-5 years down the line, when we get the Switch 2.0/Pro/Super Switch. 😲 I like that 'Super Switch Entertainment System' or SSES for short....
That's if we even have basic VC by then 😂
Simple answer: No. In fact I still don't think we should expect GameCube games on the Nintendo Switch. Just the basic NES, SNES & N64 games for the foreseeable future.
I think Nintendo should make a new cradle for the Joycons allowing them to be held along the top and bottom of the screen so that you can play DS games vertically on Switch. Since this would cover up the power and volume buttons, these would now be accessed when you press the home button. But you would still be able to charge the Switch with the cradle attached. You don't have to buy the cradle to be able to play DS games but it would be more comfortable. Since there wouldn't be any electronics inside it, it would be quite cheap.
