Whilst I'm slaving away at the every mon tier list in the background (nearly done Gen 5 at the moment), here's my ranking of all the starters:

I just really don't like Snivy.

@Fizza Snivy was always just ok to me lol.

Wait how do you display the image?

@Snatcher Thing is, I adore Serperior. Cool design (unique for a modern starter even), gets some cool moves and has one of my favourite strategies in competitive battling: Contrary Leaf Storm. It's just Snivy that I cannot stand. Maybe it's due to their smug, mightier-than-thou personality, their appearances in the anime or some other kind of thing, I just don't really have a definitive answer. Regardless though, it's definitely one of the purest examples of a line that gets better and better the more it evolves.

@Screen I just took a screen capture of the image then posted it to https://postimages.org . I doubt it'd work with the 'every single mon' tier list since it's just so big (though I suppose you could take pics in chunks starting from the top) but it's something to think about at least.

I disagree with this, this is a bad list and you should feel bad for making it. Snivy is pretty cool and not putting Charmander, Mudkip and Chimchar in S tier is criminal

Also, on the topic itself. Obviously Rotom is right up the top of the list then Infernape, Dragonite, Weavile, Charizard, Crobat making up the top six. Although not on the same team because that'd be dumb and isn't what I actually try to aim for every game......

@Fizza I agree, it’s final evolution is Miles better then the first.

I’m starting to feel bad as I made the thread yet I haven’t even posted a list yet, been taking my time with it lol.

If I'm going to complain about someone's tier list I figured I should prob make my own

For context on my first run through of these games I picked these, so that's prob biased me a bit:
Bulbasaur
Cyndaquil (least favourite starter I ended up picking but all of Gen 2s starters were a bit meh)
Gen 3 I don't remember, would've been on a ROM anyways because I never had a GBA
Chimchar
Snivy
Fennekin (much regrets)
Rowlet
Scorbunny

Next gen..... ATM I'm torn between Quaxly & Sprigatito

Can I copy paste your response to mine?

Jokes aside, you can probably tell that I have some..... conflicting opinions on this list. For example....
deep breath in
Litten is the best Alolan starter how could you do him like that, Charmander is alright though I am in the camp that he's overrated as sin, I used to love Froakie myself but the oversaturation of Greninja soured the line for me a bit in the intervening years and I completely disagree with the entire of C and D tier with the exception of Chikorita and Fennekin.

Hoo that was a mouthful. Hopefully I don't get crucified for my thoughts? Also, I love how the entirety of B tier are Grass types; I guess they really are the most average starter type huh.

I couldn't possibly do this because I feel mean criticising any Pokemon, they're all my friends and I love them (except Hypno)

Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online

skywake

@Fizza
On Litten, on paper it's ok but that evolution line is pretty meh. Of course they put him in Smash and in Smash he's also pretty damn meh. I usually like the fire starters but that generation I just couldn't go with it. Rowlett is easily the superior starter of that generation but even then, Rowlett is pretty middle of the road for a starter

Also Charmander. Dude's final evolution is literally a dragon. Overplayed or not it's pretty bad-ass
