OK I use to be a huge gamer. But being a truck driver and family man. You tend to do things different. Well my wife got are son a Nintendo switch for Christmas. So i started looking into games that cross platform for my PS4 and my gaming laptop ( and yes hard core PlayStation and pc person.) So i have tried to let my son have his own profile on my PS4 for need for speed and EA gave me a bunch of junk and wouldn't let his profile play. Now that he had a switch I was like sweet found the Need For Speed Hot Pursuit remastered for his switch for a really good price. I even got it for my pc on steam for the cross platform reason so I could play with my son. Weather I am home or out on the road. So i have spent 2 days trying to figure out why my son couldn't get online to Autolog servers. So I went on my profile and got the game to work on his switch. AND before anyone says do a childs account. I have done all of that stuff. so I am more upset and angary with EA over there children not able to get online features. EA needs to stand up and tell the LAZY PARENTS to pay more attention to there kids and raise them. But ME as a parent give permission to buy this game and let him play then I want all the features for him to have. This is my only issue I have with EA games like this one right now. So if you have this game and your child does not meat EA child limit then they wont have access to the online features on this game ( AKA Cross Platform Play) So I give the game a 7 out of 10 because of this issue. The game is still good game and I did get both copies of the game (PC / Switch) for less then $30.

@Sylvair I have this game, and while I don't think I could be much help, the game does say "age restrictions apply" on the box itself, on back in the fine print it shows a URL that links to this EA support article by typing it into a web browser.

Historically, EA's online games always had an age requirement of 13 and up for accounts, I have old PC copies of Command & Conquer that say this on back. In the article I linked, the age is different in every country. I don't know if the article can help, but it may have some info.

@Sunsy Ok I do apricate your help. BUT command and Conquer is not the game were talking about. ITS A RACE CAR GAME!!!!! EA needs to get there heads out of there butt and think about what the game really is. I see no issue with my 9yr son play a racing game online. since I watch what he does online closely anyways. I am not one of those lazy parents that don't watch what there kids do. On top of that if I go thro and do a child account and have to give permission for him to do this game or give permission to buy and install then I should be able to let my son play online with my permission. So EA NEEDS TO GET WITH THE PROGRAIM!!!!!! I GET IF THIS WAS SOME BLOOD AND GORE GAME BUT ITS NOT!!!!!

@Sylvair
Does it have voice chat. If so that might be the reason it is restricted. If you want him to be able to play a racing game online without restrictions just go with Mario kart.

@Sylvair I know we're not talking about Command & Conquer, I used it as an example of an EA game case fine print saying "you must be 13 or older to to use online services," while Hot Pursuit Remastered simply says "age restrictions apply" in its fine print on the case. The EA support article (from the URL that was in the fine print) I linked even says child accounts may not have access to online multiplayer.

It has nothing to do with parenting or game's content, it has more to do with EA and other companies not being allowed to collect personal information from kids under 13. They have no choice but to have the restriction in place. There's a good chance this is the reason why. It's like this with a lot of online games that use an account, not just EA.

The article also says a system's parental controls (the phone app in Switch's case) is what EA follows for online play on consoles using a child account. I wouldn't know how the app works as I never used it, maybe someone who has could give an explanation.

@blindsquarel I checked my copy of Hot Pursuit Remastered, I can't even find a voice chat setting anywhere.
